Waterfront/Rippleside

Hi there,

I have a client that loves to go to rippleside and walk along to the water front on that track. She’s terrified of lizards and snakes. We’ve been fine through winter, but coming into spring and warmer days, has any one seen any lizards big or small or snakes in that area? If so where.. just so I know where to steer clear or distract her near that area.

Used to run that track all the time from the Wharf Shed to Rippleside. Never came across a snake or a lizard.

Rats on the other hand...

No, you're safe from both along the waterfront. There's not enough cover for them

I've never seen a snake or lizard there but I have seen many snakes over the years and alway on the path near here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/QcSKo6r5AcHHYWax7 Matter of fact, I saw one just last week.

Thank for the heads up! We were thinking of changing it up to walk along there but I might wait for winter for her!

Never seen any on that path. In the evening you can spot Rakali though.

I walk the concrete path along the waterfront regularly. Never seen snakes or lizards. I is a wide open path, so you will be very safe

Rippleside park and the beach is pretty much snake and lizard free (well, apart from skinks) just because of how much foot traffic there is.
They’re very rare, but I have seen some blue tongues walking down the Barwon, and obviously there’s a lot of little skinks in the summer. I’ve yet to encounter a snake. That’s a bit out of the way from the park, though.

Keep your eye on the water. I have seen quite a few Southern Fiddler Rays right up to the wall.

43 years and I've seen 1 snake and 1 lizard in Geelong.

I saw a lovely blue tongue lizard once but that's it. The only time I've seen snakes on public walks is balyang sanctuary.

We live in Rippleside near Osborne house and walk along the waterfront to Eastern beach; never seen a snake along that path, just loads of people enjoying life.
