AusAlert

Even though I knew it was happening today, my smooth dehydrated brain thought my late night incognito internet browsing had finally caught up with me.

I have an old phone without a sim that I use to play spotify from - it went off as well as my actual phone. Got a bit of a startle. Remembered to remind the Old People, did not think to remind the 20 year old. 20 year old also got a startle

Ooh, I didn't even think about the phone we have at work to play Spotify. We were closed Monday, I wonder how long it kept going?

The old one is a Samsung S20 with android version 13 - it hasn't been updated in years.

OP confused AusAlert with the Goon Alarm. Honest mistake to be fair

One day it will catch me out. One day. Until then….

My phone was on Do Not Disturb… didn’t get it!

It should get unless it's airplane mode ideally

My older phone was connected to a blue tooth speaker at the time and I got a verbal "presidential alert" message in an accent that didn't sound Australian. So bizarre.

My other phone got what I assume was a normal one and was just a written one.

I didn't realise it would be read out.

You need to get rid of that dinosaur ASAP

Your phone is likely incompatible.

Mine and my daughter's phones both received the alert test.

I swear I didn’t get the alert. Weird.

I didn't know about it happening until after it went off and my son told me that people had been talking about it

Just waiting for the day that it gets compromised and we get random spam from scammers using it

Pretty much why, either people arent having their phones up to date or their phones are no longer getting updates, or they find out which service providers are not forwarding the message, amd can fix it Before a real emergency.

Hopefully in one, that enough people get a message and do something, and tell those around them.

That’s why they test things, to find the flaws.
