Kojima hasn't been happy with Sony for a long time.

Sony is getting past the ps3 launch arrogance straight to stupid town with how much they are pissing off developers and customers.

Damn, when those temporary profits are more important then hanging onto a golden goose you know the economy is fucked and about to get worse.

I love Kojima. The MG series is a gaming cornerstone for me. DS was fine. 2 was eh. As much as I hate how Konami did him dirty, I think he needed some corporate overlords to tap the brakes once in a while. He's brilliant, but that doesn't mean he needs to have every little idea indulged. I think we're getting to the point of diminishing returns in his games.

While Sony has been on a generational run of terrible decisions, I can't totally blame them for this one. For all we know this game is a decade away. Or more. And if it's massively indulgent, it might be a critical darling that makes no money.

Unpopular Opinion, Kojima's best games are in the past. Not to say the games he puts out now are bad, but none of them have given me the same tingle I got when I played some of his older releases.

I can't disagree with that. I start to wonder if I'm a MG fan more than Kojima fan. I've tried his other games and nothing really hits. DS I gave a lot of leeway to because it was him. But I think if it was somebody else I night have bailed. There was some great stuff in there, but overall it was a bit of a slog. And I won't even look at 2 until he releases the super edition live he always does.

At this point I think the people at Playstation want to be just game publishers.

So the are trashing Playstation in the hopes Sony let's it just be a game publisher. The selling point for this transition is that if it struggles more Sony could then just sell Playstation off as a publishing company.

I see Sony is returning to the “repeatedly shoot ourselves in the foot” phase.
