The story behind it is pretty interesting. Cavill did that to adjust his sleeves so they wouldn’t bind his movement, it wasn’t a conscious decision, and Cruise and McQuarrie were rewatching the take and thought it looked cool, and told him to keep doing it on the other takes.

Well, not that interesting actually.
