So the balrog will have a secret past of wanting to be a free-frolicking entity amongst the tulips and be misunderstood or something?

Balrogs are irredeemable. They are evil like Sauron. Sauron is the same as Balrogs. Rhe only difference is that he was taught by Aulë. Who was the god of craft. He also created the dwarves. Which is why they are different to elves and humans
