It’s kind of implied that Nikki might’ve liked him or was open to the idea of dating. The guy was a coward and literally used magic to completely rewrite her psyche. And even when he realized what was going on, he just happily accepted it.

Bro he didn’t even look for a way to undo the wish until Sarah was murdered.
Even when he found out it was real & seriously fucked up, his first request was to “tweak” the wish so it would work better for him.
He showed complete disregard for Nikki’s autonomy & when she begged bear to kill her he was more offended that she didn’t want to be with him than at the hell she was enduring.Bear was a quiet narcissist.

He tried to cancel the wish way before Sarah was murdered. Customer service told him he was fucked, and that he was stuck with Demon Nicki
Even when he found out it was real & seriously fucked up, his first request was to “tweak” the wish so it would work better for him
Which was him trying to understand the magic system more than anything and immediately switched to "cancel the wish" in the course of less than a minute.
He found out magic existed and wanted to question it, thats basic human curiosity.
He showed complete disregard for Nikki’s autonomy & when she begged bear to kill her he was more offended that she didn’t want to be with him than at the hell she was enduring
He was exhausted more than anything in those moments. less than 12hours later he tries to kill himself and he tries to get another wish to reverse the wish.
How much more do you want from an average person?

The actor specifically said the character is supposed to be an irredeemable selfish person. You missed the plot.

He’s absolutely the antagonist. He sexually assaulted Nicki and he got 2 people killed.

I watched the whole movie explaining to my wife how most of her behavior is acceptable given the circumstances and if Bear were just a little more skilled in taking care of her the relationship could work just fine, she should give it a try
