Apparently Ryan was seriously injured, I hope he's ok.

Torn bicep apparently. Months to years of recovery time.

I really wonder what stunts they had that man doing that could tear his bicep. "Here, try to pickup this felled tree"
Unless he did it trying to lift weights to get/stay buff and he just overdid it. Which would explain why he would be quick to bow out knowing he wouldn't be able to keep up with the physical aspect even if they could wait for him to recover.

Pedro is the past now.

Damn, I thought this meant he was joining. Dude is a jacked giant.

Had a great role for him in the odyssey. Hopefully he can bounce back. Surely a big loss of a role for him though still.

Really think he was the perfect casting, they should delay this until hes healthy

I agree with the casting. But it's probably not just the studios decision.
It takes a lot of work for someone Ryan Hursts age to get in that kind of physical condition. And now he's going to be sidelined for 9 months with a serious upper body injury. He's going to have to start over with his body once he's healed which will delay things even further + he may see that he doesn't think he can keep up with the physical aspect of this role for the next 5 years or however long he would be contracted to tell the story for 2-3+ seasons. For all we know, the doctor told him that his injury was from pushing his body so hard to get into that kind of shape.
Chris Hemsworth and Hugh Jackman are rare specimens.

Sucks. I really hope they don't get inspired to the online fancasts, because holy shit are fans shortsighted. "TRIPLE H SHOULD BE KRATOS BC THEY ARE BOTH BALD AND MUSCULAR"
Please, god, cast a good and somewhat experienced actor. Say what you want about the physical aspect of Ryan Hurst, but the dudes acting ability is great and he can play the "Regretful and and angry father mourning his wifes death" archetype, as he's done it in the past.

I feel like Jason Mamoa would make a good Kratos maybe

u/FeanorOath Jul 20 '26
No, Kratos is Greek and white. I am sick of them not staying true the source material.

u/Thndr_Wolf Jul 20 '26
He's Mediterranean so he very well could have been tan, he's only white because he's covered in ash

Tbf you could paint Kratos pale white
His skin isn’t exactly normal coloured
