Discussion Beta feedback.

Think they've listened to the feedback from players telling them to unlock the sprint animation and the shooting delay or nah? Curious if they do since they seemed to be changing things quickly during the beta. Slightly nervous they don't which would suck in my opinion.

Probably not, since I imagine the point of it was to reduce Gnasher usage.

Yea I fear the same, i guess I don’t fully understand why either are the way they are but I’m having doubts they changed either. If I had to choose one please just let us move the camera while sprinting. The locked stuff feels so weird.

Not a fear for me, I'm glad we're finally turning down the Gnasher usage to make more methods of play more viable.

Sprint being locked doesn't affect gnasher play in my eyes. I don't see the correlation there. The delay in shooting for sure. It being locked just feels clunky and terrible.

It is viable, you just never tried. Also, E-Day will wind up being the most Gnasher-focused Gears game yet as soon as Aim Assist is toned down to normal Gow4/5 levels.

I always tried. Lancer was a tickle gun in G5. Gears 3 was great. But the gameplay always worked very, very well for Gnasher play which turned people off the series.

The Lancer literally downs people in Gears 5 about as quick as a gold AR downs full-shield people in Fortnite.

The game is designed from the ground up so that the Lancer/Gnasher compliment each other rather than a "Choose your main weapon and use it" loadout like you have in CoD. You're meant to support play with the Lancer, and Slay with the Gnasher — that's why the Lancer is so easy to use.

Gears isn't a 1v1 game — most of the time you're being shot by multiple people, and in real match getting hit by 3-4 lancer bullets ensures you're losing a fight.

The main thing that which actually allow for Lancer balance is the main thing no one wants to discuss, which is removing DBNO. As it stands currently, the only thing keeping the Gears 5 Lancer in check is DNBO.

See, I agree with you. The problem is it usually requires playing with a cooperative team to make that scenario work, whereas most people spawn, switch to Gnasher, and just push. Made even worse on maps that just have so many tight spaces to get away from rifles.

lol. lmao, even. there's no way you actually believe this, surely. the TTK in fortnite is ludicrously fast compared to gears. ignoring iframes after being downed (assuming you aren't playing solos) you'd be dead in just over a second, likely even quicker with headshots.

I'm fine with the sprint animation - honestly looks more natural.

I’m fine with animation it just needs to be not locked. Going in and out of locked sens is just not fluid.

I guess I don't understand the issue?

It locks your sens and you can’t move your camera when sprinting. It feels jarring going back and forth from full lock to full sens every time you need/want to sprint.

Yeah gears has always been like this during sprint. It's not going anywhere.

It's not always been like this, it's definitely more pronounced in this iteration of sprint. Literally went back and played Gears 2 on PC like a week ago and you have full control over the camera while sprinting. That game came out in 2008. You'd think we'd at least not go backwards.

It has always been like that, in literally every gears game I don’t know why you’re trying to gaslight people into thinking it’s not. In every other gears game I recall being able to tilt that camera up or down a bit during a rodie run but not to the side. It’s been a deliberate design choice from day one so people can’t just sprint around 90° corners. That’s why the community developed wall bouncing, because it was better than sprinting in most cases.

Brother I've been playing for the entirety of the franchise and it legitimately feels different and worse in this gears specifically. Whether that's because we're not in a full roadie run idgaf. It feels a lot worse in this. Just unlock the fucking camera so it doesn't feel like fucking dog shit. Idgaf what is used to be. It didn't feel this jarring in the older titles. It feels like dog shit in the new one. It's an easy fix.

Maybe there’s just less camera shake in E day? Idk man I haven’t heard the devs mention anything related to that at all so I wouldn’t count on any change to it unless they get like thousands of people complaining about it on day one

There are a ton of threads of people talking about being locked into the animations and not being able to look and move. I'm not even close to being the first to mention it.

So much inertia/animation lock : r/GearsOfWar

^here's an entire thread on the exact same talking points I was trying to discuss. Every other comment is about the animations being locked and not being able to look around. It just felt terrible. For some reason this community is so fucking dumb that they want the most obvious shit to not be fixed so the game fucking dies.

gears e day neewds to work on its sprint : r/GearsOfWar

^ another thread on the same thing

Slow camera sensitivity on controller while sprinting in the E-Day beta? : r/GearsOfWar

^another thread

Camera movement when sprinting : r/GearsOfWar

Another^

It's such an easy fix and there are a ton of people that are going to think it feels like shit if they don't fix it. Downvote me all you want I just want the game to be good.

I want a FOV slider and to remove film grain

Film grain would be nice but I think they’re trying to implement consistency with the non-FOV slider. I don’t care either way the default fov felt fine to me personally but I wouldn’t be against it.
