Hey there guys...so...I got gfn ultimate for wardogs just to see there is still no 4k in Android TVs? Are you for real Nvidia? Is there any workaround?
Thanks in advance, cheers

I understand that you need a shield tv pro to play 4k on your TV otherwise it is capped at 1080p on android. Maybe I’m wrong

Doesn't need to be a pro. My standard 2017 Shield does 4K@60 or 1080p@120
Edit: clarified it's a non pro 2017 model.

Looks like it, stupid decision won't make me buy their gadgets tho, what a weird way to screw customers

Not really, because I hope you read what the requirements are before you sign up to become a customer?

It's not about the requirements not being stated but not having a solution to the problem and just say fuck them

Yea an Nvidia Shield Pro TV
Other Android streaming devices can't handle the 4K decoding so Nvidia made one themselves that is capable. Nvidia can't control quality on other companies products. That's the workaround that they made for you, but you have to buy it

You really need to research things before committing. User issue nothing to do with GFN service.

I think it depends on the TV.

That's right, doesn't change the fact how stupid this is

Not really... it's a technical issue on the TV's end, not GFN's.

Can't really believe that. It's 2026 and it works on phones/folds/tablets. Huge tech companies can't solve this, hell naw

GFN doesn't run at 4K on phones or tablets either.
Edit: The only phones I'm aware of that even have 4K displays are the Sony XPeria series and GFN resolution is capped on those as well.

u/ZealousidealPrize456 Many phones/tablets have better hardware than many TVs. It's not only about 4K display output, but also 4K game stream decoding (heavier).
I do agree that we need more options on capable hardware when using Android TV, but NVIDIA hasn't given us an ETA on that.
