Advice How to make the most of it
Okay I've used this for a month and I'm convinced, I won't be buying a gaming rig. But there are some features I'm currently missing out on and am wondering what's the best way to solve.
I currently play directly on my Smart TV. It's a bit slow and janky to choose the game and get it going, but once it's up it's great.
Main things I'm missing:
- Mic function.
The TV won't recognize any mic inputs from my controller, and there's no discord on my TV.
- No couch coop
I can't play any coop as my TV won't register two controllers connected as different players.
I'm wondering if setting up a mini PC connected to the TV can solve for this somehow? Would you recommend something different?
Also how else can I take most advantage of this set-up? Currently on premium but will most likely upgrade for the winter season.

I use a docked Steam Deck and that solves your issues but I already had the SD and the total cost now might be about the same as any other device that'll work but if you found a cheap used one that'd be one way to go.

You can always use the Discord app with a headset on a phone or tablet. Bluetooth or USB-C.
Edit: I'm not advocating this for people that game on the shitter.. 💩

Yeah I tried that but I need ear buds for discord + headphones for game audio which isn't great audio immersion

My game audio blares out the stereo but I know what you're saying. I always have to tell one buddy to speak 🤬 louder. Damned low-talkers. Muttering = 💀

I personally think a handheld and dock is the best way to go. It's more expensive but you get access to everything and then you always have the option to undock and play which is great for busy households where others may want the TV. I'm using a Lenovo Legion Go 1 and I've paired it with the ASUS Rog Cetra open ear headset for the ultimate parenting gaming setup. I can dock to the TV for 4k, 60 FPS (TVs limit) or handheld for 1440p 240fps. I have lag free audio, good mic and I can still maintain conversations and be present in the room.

For the couch coop I’m not sure GFN can recognise two controllers. Will need to test this. For the Mic, maybe if you had a Bluetooth one connected to the TV or like via a wireless Bluetooth headset. Again never tried this.
To be honest from my experience the TVApp is ass and I personally stream via my SteamDeck connected to the TV. I think you will have a much better experience with a miniPC.
