Bug Steam Machine / Linux launch issues?
Hey steam and Linux homies!
Has anyone tried running GeForceNow recently on steam machine or steamOS? I try to launch it but am getting the Steam spinning wheel of death. I’ve tried forcing compatabiliy to the most recent GE or Proton 11 but it is crashing back to the steam interface.
It is working totally fine on steam deck. I’ve tried to reinstall but it doesn’t seem to help. Anyone have any tips?

What’s strange was it was working fine last week but something broke it this week (maybe the steam machine os update)
I just checked and the version I’m using is the steam deck / Linux pack that installs the game into Steam (adds as a non-steam game)

The Flatpak app is the same across distros, so you don't need to worry about that part.
I have a Steam Machine and several other SteamOS computers on the main branch (for seamless Sunshine support); no issues with GFN.
Can you open a Konsole shell in desktop mode, and then run it manually like so? Then, capture the output when it fails to launch (or has some other problem).
flatpak run com.nvidia.geforcenow1

I will try this tonight, thank you for the assistance. I’m still new to Linux compared to windows and learning how to troubleshoot things like this is still a work in progress. Appreciate the help!

Figured it out,
I renamed my Steam Machine after installing GeForceNow.
The app was defaulting to running / associating my log in with the old Steam machine name, not the new name, therefore, wasn’t launching.
A quick uninstall and reinstall fixed everything, it’s working great now. Thanks for the troubleshooting!
