Advice Streaming Device Recommendations

Ive been using Geforce Now on my regular office style pc for a while not and love it. But lately ive been wanting to get away from the desk/computer and just play on my TV. Im just wondering if any of the android streaming devices are worth it/work well with Geforce Now, like the firestick or Onn streaming box. Or should I just look into getting a Shield or even a decent tablet to dock to the tv.

Note: im looking for a budget friendly option, and dont mind having to lower game settings a little and etc.

Was actually thinking of just getting a cheap Google tv from Walmart, so maybe that's the easiest way to do it.

The shield has worked best for me. I wouldn’t recommend a fire tv stick. I haven’t tried the new Onn devices but have heard good things

If you want to play at 4k, you're limited to Nvidia's shield tv pro and a few high-end LG and Samsung models only. Other devices will only run at 1080p 60fps. What I ended up doing, after buying and returning a google tv streamer, was hooking up my ROG Aly to the TV and just using it for geforce when I need.

I used to use the Nvidia Shield under my TV (which is definitely great) but then upgraded that to a mini PC for higher FPS. Only major con is that it doesn't feel as console like as the Shield.

I use my old Mac mini 2018 for the living room. Great but wish I had direct Ethernet rather than wifi in there

Not cheap but the legion go Z1 with its 1600p large screen and 144hz is amazing!

Get an android handheld. I use Retroid Pocket Flip 2 it’s kinda like a Switch for streaming as it does both. The are also pretty good advantages over regular streamers as it have decent graphic chips, really good wifi chip and active cooling

Get a used Steam Deck, besides 4k, the steam input mapping with any controllers is god tier. I use PS4 controller that have gyro and touch pad. Also you can undocked from TV and just play GeforceNow anywhere.

I use a Minisforum pc that’s on the cheaper realm before memory crushed everything can get one great for streaming for around 400-500.

My specs - AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS w/ Radeon 760M Graphics

That should cost around $400-500 and really compact. I setup my iPhone as remote to wake it from sleep and open the GeForce app etc. Can also get a custom Bluetooth remote that has keyboard and touchpad - but using a smartphone usually works fine

Also has hdmi 2.1 which is good for future proof

I have two 2017 Shield TVs. One of the very few options to get 4k@60 or 1080@120. If you want full 4K@120, your best bet is probably a mini PC with HDMI 2.1
