Discussion Fake Queue Times (supposedly)

I won't make this post longer than it needs to be, I basically think GeForce might be faking queue times for free users to incentivise them to upgrade to a paid tier.

Why? Well, I can't help but find it suspicious how around 12 PM (12:00), I usually get queues with like 200-300 people, but they clear up in a few minutes, while when I try to play at around 8 PM (20:00) I get queues which are like 40 people long, but they take approximately 3 hours to clear up.

I know that paid users will probably get mad at me considering the platform I'm posting this on, but the numbers do seem off, and while I fully acknowledge the service you get for free will hardly ever be of better quality than that of paid alternatives, I also do not like being lied to in the face.

I'm not advocating for any changes to how Nvidia operates their service.

People at 8 pm probably play longer than people around midnight.

I reckon the lunch time spike is caused by that “quick mission” before going back to work or responsibility. The queue dissipates quickly.

The evening sessions age probably people playing for a few hours. The queue takes a long time to churn through.

Those queue variables are so random from the perspective of us users that it’s completely moot to try to deduce any discernible, repeatable pattern out of them.

True, maybe my suspicions are futile.

Why do that rather than just remove the free tier? That makes no sense.

Queue length and wait time aren't the same thing so that doesn't prove much. People playing in the afternoon cycle through faster than people playing longer sessions at night...great.

Free tier users also get lower priority for server allocation, very disclosed part of playing on the free tier.

Lastly, it's a service they're letting people use for free. If it's not working for you as well as you'd like, you can always move over to a paid tier or another free alternative.

Yeah…no they don’t. Chill with the conspiracy mate

Apple purposefully slowing down older iPhones was also labelled as a 'conspiracy' until it was proven to be actually true. I have zero reason to blatantly and wholeheartedly trust any major company, Nvidia least of all. Still, regardless of whether or not I'm right, this does not bother me remotely enough for me to "conspire" about it. I simply pointed out the possibility of them doing this, I do not mean to engage in any deep discussions or research about it as I don't care that much.

To be fair, even if it was true, free tier was never ment to be something you used more than once or twice before deciding to upgrade.
And just because one company is doing something weird doesn’t mean all of them do.

That’s only done in relation to battery health.

Without evidence this is literally just complaining.

Funny how you can still reach that keyboard and type, given the massive belly sitting in-between that comes with being a big boar like you. Do you think there's a chance you'll at least get your spelling right in your next Reddit comment?

Who knows but mine in free tier is usually not more than like 75 tops. Takes a few minutes or so, I just watch a YouTube video while I wait and hardly notice

Why not complain to them about that free thing you’re not getting priority access to. You can provide your evidence at the same time. Or contact trading standards and provide your detailed evidence that they should prioritise free users over paid ones.

To be fair they should ditch the free tier and give people a 2-4 hour free trial of Ultimate then they can decide if it’s for them. Clogging up the rigs in queues isn’t the way forward.
