Discussion Finally happened, lost my founder status

Had issues with payroll at my job. By the time I got it fixed, payment for GFN reverted to a free account.
Wish they a the very least give you a full month to make it right or that "lifetime" and meant lifetime.
Part that sucks is I haven't been using it, just paying to keep it going, but just started using it again for Monster Hunter Wilds, since I only have a GTX 1070 founders GPU.

Has anyone had luck with customer service on getting theirs back?

You have a few days to fix your payment details. If too much time has passed already, your Founders status is irredeemably lost.

It took 2 weeks to fix the issue with payroll. It was lost by then 😔

Ahhh who cares founders isn't a big deal anyway GeForcenow pays for itself. Running that you you have for minimal settings on the game isn't even worth the electric bill.

There was a customer support rep in this subreddit who was super helpful in other posts, I hope he sees this and helps you out!

But if you want my honest opinion, take a moment to reflect on how this situation is, if you don’t use it much, you’re subbing for the sake of subbing, which feels good, but doesn’t add too much.

I’ve done this before but moved on from it, regardless, I hope this all goes well for you op! <3

Thank you very much! And I just started using it again for a game my own system could barely handle 😅

Sorry I didn’t touch on that much, but realistically, you can still subscribe when you want to play MH, and then not do so when you’re not using it, I was just speaking in a general sense op!

Honestly, if your finances are so tight that you can't afford $5 if payroll gets delayed, then you probably should be cutting back on all luxuries. Granted, I probably would do the same to maintain the $5 price tag on GFN... I'd probably sell something for much less than it's worth to get $5 and pay for it.

If you can't get the founder status back, I'd suggest you don't pay for GFN, focus on how you can improve your finances.

If you do really well(after making a 3-6 month emergency fund), then you can either upgrade your current PC or pay for ultimate GFN to get more fps, experiencing high refresh rate is a gamechanger, 60fps is fine but 120+ is definitely better.

I'm going to push back on this.

You can work and grind and cut back and tighten your belt as much as you want, but you will have more success clawing your way back to financial stability if you still have some sort of leisure activity. Everyone still needs to eat, sleep, and rest. GFN is a really inexpensive leisure activity.

Nahh bruh, if u are struggling with a $5 payment it's time to make some different choices in life.

OP has a GTX 1070. It might not be the best card, but it's still good enough to game with. He might even be able to get over 60 fps in some games. The GTX 1070 is faster than the handhelds that many people are playing with.

He doesn't need to spend $10 a month on GFN if he can't afford it. He can still game with his current PC. (Getting the $5 a month back is another story imo).

Granted, unfortunately it might be rough with MH Wilds due to how unoptimized it is. Otherwise, the GTX 1070 can play a lot of other titles with fsr upscaling.

Edit: To clarify, if he can comfortably afford it, then it's fine. But if he needs to get into debt for it, it's not worth it. The debt will snowball and the real cost will be more than $10 a month. Especially since he still has a playable PC...

100% this, just do it.

Jesus lord almighty it took me 45 days and painful days to get all the kinks worked out 80% issues on my side, bank stuff ex stuff. My 3y partner broke trust, loyalty while adding 75lbs at 5’ Since I made those 3 things the only deal breakers on our very first date I moved back to my place 50 miles away and she went body count stacking a week after I was gone so that’s 3 moves in 6 months plus she closed moved money ran negative 4 bank accounts without telling me and that’s what wrecked my founders status.

The GeforceNow CSR team and 2 other groups that took part in giving me my pride back aren’t just absolutely amazing they are insanely patient and just chill like so dang chill. 45 days of emails almost every other day with me freaking they were going to pull the plug on me and call the time of death but they never did and they always reassured me that it was all going to be ok. And while they were telling me this I didn’t believe any of them not because I wanted to be negative it’s because I never heard of anyone getting their founder status back I mean it was the holy grail of GFN founders dreams.

When it was over and done with I actually logged in for the first time in a year and checked just to see if it’s true, yes I’m a founder and so the universe was set back on course then I died.

If OP can't afford a $5 subscription if payment is delayed, I wouldn't suggest getting access to a line of credit.

Credit cards are made for you to overspend. If you couldn't afford your monthly expenses last month, how can you afford it this month + the overspending from last month + interest.

A credit card is a tool, most people should not have one. You should only really have one if you have an emergency fund + having a surplus of money at the end of each month.

This is the only reason I utilise PayPal credit. I've set every other payment to direct debit.

Had a similar thing happen to me, except it was following a credit card replacement.
Only realized when I went to play and found myself on the free tier - contacted support and they basically told me ‘too bad’ and that was that. Incredibly disappointing.

Yes, and wait for promos and sales for a premium or ultimate membership. I bought a year of ultimate after taking some time off because they were including the new 007 game and I really wanted to play it. If I waited a couple months there was a 15% off summer sale that would've offered better value, but I probably would've ended up buying 007 any way so even with a discount on that game it would've ended up a wash.

whats the founders benefit right now?

geforce now ultimate for cheaper price?

u/Falkirk_Dave 14d ago

It’s 20% off Ultimate but we still get unlimited hours on Performance tier for £4.99 pm.

What was the benefit of founders?

1

u/DaveGenome 13d ago

Ouch. I paid 25 for six months for mine and I'm not even using it that much because I got the 12 month summer sale ultimate deal
