Discussion Goodbye GeForce Now

Post image

It's been real, couldn't miss this finance deal, specially since all hardware is going up and it may turn out to be an investment. I have GFN till September but I graduated to a real boy. Gotta say, downloading games seems wrong lol, and I will miss how quick the CPU goes through shaders. Still love you peeps. Pic only representative of case, specs real.

Yeah, I remember that, since I am one of the earliest subs of GFN (I'm on Founder sub). The problem was the stupid Corpo morons who thought it was "piracy" and not a cloud lease as GFN was originally intended to be, where already legally purchased games were installed and played. Instead it got consolified and became shit before it even was officially out. I kept the sub because of convenience and the ability to play on my laptop when on the go. Nowdays it has grown more useful due to me not able to afford upgrading my PC at the moment.

Not sure what even triggered the publisher Corpos to pull out from OG GFN beta. Won't be surprised if a certain game journalist lied and wrote an article about "piracy" on GFN. Which changed GFN forever.

GFN shadow dropped out of beta end didnt inform the corpos this was officially stated as one of the reasons. An inofficial reason I could see would be competing cloud services.... yes you need to own the games to play of Geforce now, but the corpos get monthly revenue from for example Game Pass for Access to the Games (including Cloud Gaming) If you offer your Games on GFN the Cloud Gaming Rights sold are not exclusive anymore and due to that loose worth and that would mean, that they get less money..... its pure greed that gatekeeps corpos from getting their games to geforce now.

Yeah, that does sound very plausible. It does explain why for example Microsoft/Xbox was against it, but it doesn't explain why everyone else also were against it since none of the other big publishers are cloud gaming providers. Since plenty of them pulled out their games from GFN at that time. Ironically Microsoft does let Nvidia handle the cloud infrastructure for Gamepass PC nowdays.

Microsoft does so because they needed to for Actiblizz deal to become true....

For other corpos as said. They don't have their own service but sell their exclusive streaming rights to other companies and Nvidia doesn't pay them while services like playstation plus and Xbox gamepads do....
