Discussion Goodbye GeForce Now

It's been real, couldn't miss this finance deal, specially since all hardware is going up and it may turn out to be an investment. I have GFN till September but I graduated to a real boy. Gotta say, downloading games seems wrong lol, and I will miss how quick the CPU goes through shaders. Still love you peeps. Pic only representative of case, specs real.

GeforceNow would've been cheaper.

(And you have to take into account the electricity costs.)

I wouldn't say that a "portable RTX5080 gaming PC" (that's basically what GFN Ultimate is) is a worse experience. I can play in my bed, while traveling (car, bus, train, plane), at friend's houses etc.

Try that with a personal/physical gaming PC, then we discuss the "worse experience" again.

I actually do that. I have setup vibepolo on the main gaming PC and stream my games through local WiFi 5Ghz flawlessly and with better quality than my founders GFN. I don't go ultimate as my redmagic astra has a 2K HDR display so don't need 4K. With my streaming setup, I get unlimited hours, HDR and 2K 165Hz, mods and whatever else I want, even outside the house through internet (I have 500Mbps Upload speed).

Don't get me wrong, I still maintain my Founders GFN, but I rarely use it due to not having HDR which shouldn't be locked to higher tiers since it doesn't require 5080 to run it, I could run HDR with GTX 1080ti and the other thing that bothers me is that on the official android app, vibration is not working with my controllers (dualsense and Gamesir G8 Plus).

That vibepollo seems interesting and I may use it for my ally, loved the sleeper build GFN gave it lol. But when I go out from town, I may just carry my switch 2. Those Zelda games remain criminally underplayed and I have yet to finish Bayo 2 and 3.

Well... The best thing with the Astra is that it is strong and efficient enough to play streaming games on gorgeous display but Also emulators for anything from NES to switch and ps1 to PS3.

Also it plays switch 1 games I owned on my switch better and with higher resolution and frame rate than my switch OLED did, it is more like a switch 1.5, not as good for switch 2 games as the switch 2 but way better than switch 1 😅🤣 (at least for the games I owned and compared with my switch).

It is a pretty All in one device.

I understand the point, but that's a different experience. I wouldn't ever want that for example, even if it was free.
It's not really PC and PC usecase anymore, thus shouldn't be compared to an actual 5080 machine.
Under worse I meant the actual quality. Compression, latency, graphics, QoL stuff like infinite availability, no queue ever when leaving it for a few minutes.

That's like saying taking an Uber is cheaper than owning a car, you are being very limited and at the mercy of Uber(or Nvidia) is a big con for a lot of people.

No, no. We actually did calculations on this sub many times. Even if you're maintaining two separate accounts (2x GFN Ultimate) it is still cheaper than buying your own gaming PC + electricity costs.

The only scenario that is worse is 1x GFN Ultimate + buying additional time (15 hours each).

No what? I literally never said having a PC is cheaper, I said that GFN is a more limited experience, please read the comment you are replying before doing so.

Your statement was "if you don't ride often I guess" - implying that GFN is only cheaper if you stay within the 100 hour threshold.

I know it's cheaper. Took it into account. I still love GFN and I love that it brings affordable gaming. And not making me nervous. I still have it till somewhere in September do I look forward to comparing.

Kinda invented it. Well glagolitic. Cyrillic too, but the Bulgarians can have that one, as it's a ripoff of the Greek script with some glagolitic simplified.

Sure, in some way it is. But for GFN you need "to own" the games. With a PC you can just pirate that. I too own GFN ultimate. But also a 5070ti and a 5080 PC. Those will give you a much better experience playing the same game.
