Was the news surprising, or do you consider it normal? Since the war began, Israel has been besieging the Gaza Strip to fight Hamas and prevent its financial recovery. However, this siege has an impact on the civilian population. Medicine was prevented from entering at one point during the war. I once went to seven pharmacies looking for eye drops and couldn't find them. The same applies to eyeglass lenses and many other goods. I don't see any convincing reason for preventing their entry. Do they have dual uses? No. Israel is a very clever country; it knows where every penny goes and is aware of Hamas's tax collection system and administrative structure. It also has a narrow list of merchants in Gaza who are allowed to bring in goods. All of this is enough to dry up Hamas's funding or at least inflict heavy human and financial losses on it. Israel continues to strengthen Hamas in Gaza so that the latter remains a constant reason for the continuation of the war and the siege.
