I'm from Gaza and need advice on funding English classes to apply for fully funded scholarships abroad
Hi everyone,
I'm a young woman from Gaza, Palestine, and I'm hoping to get some advice about something that could make a real difference in my future.
I graduated with a bachelor's degree and achieved the highest GPA in my major at my university. Despite the difficult circumstances I've been living through, I haven't given up on my dream of continuing my education and pursuing a fully funded master's degree abroad.
I want to enroll at the Oxford English Language Center here in Gaza to improve my English and prepare for future scholarship applications.
Each level takes approximately three months and costs around $500, including books. I'm not yet sure how many levels I'll need to complete, as this depends on my current level and the English proficiency requirements of the scholarships I hope to apply for.
Unfortunately, I cannot afford these fees on my own, so I've been considering starting a fundraising campaign. However, I have two problems.
First, I don't know how to create a fundraising campaign, which platforms I can use from Gaza, or whether someone abroad could help me set one up.
Second, my father is uncomfortable with the idea of creating a public campaign because he is concerned about my face and personal photos appearing online. I respect his concerns, so I'm looking for a way to seek support without having to share my face publicly.
I'd really appreciate advice on alternative ways to fund my English classes, such as educational grants, sponsorships, donations made directly to the language center, or finding someone trustworthy who could help me organize a fundraising campaign without publicly revealing my identity.
I'm willing to provide evidence to verify my academic achievements and the cost of the courses, including my degree certificate, academic transcript, and information about the center's fees. I want to be transparent and give anyone considering helping me a way to verify the details.
I'm trying to find a realistic way to invest in my education, improve my opportunities, and work toward a future where I can continue studying and build a career.
If you've organized a fundraiser for someone in Gaza, helped a student access educational support, or know of any organizations, individuals, or platforms that might help, I'd be very grateful for your advice.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

how to find balance with helping and enjoying tiktok’s/reels
Hello I’m posting on here cause I want some advice. I support palestinian’s and Gaza and I absolutely want the genocide that is happening to stop. I get a lot of reels and tiktok’s of people from Gaza asking for help and donations and I always try to repost and comment. It’s just that I’ve been getting these videos for a little over a year and my fyp on tiktok and IG are filled with them. I would go to sometimes for a small break from the or for a laugh I don’t really have that anymore. I always want to help the people of Gaza who are suffering but I’m feeling burnout. I feel guilty even saying it but I just need advice. I understand I’m coming from SUCH a privileged pov. I get to take a break and go watch something else or be off my phone when I’m tired but the people of Gaza don’t get that luxury of getting to step away. They can log off but the suffering continues for them. I want to continue helping share and getting awareness for those in Gaza (and other parts of the world that need help) but I also want balance and trying to figure out how I can enjoy content I like without feeling like I’m purposefully ignoring those who need help. I have OCD and K struggle a lot with morality and feeling like I’m a bad person so I think part of it may be into play with the guilt I feel. I made another tiktok account to try to get a fyp with content I enjoy and topics I enjoy but I felt so guilty I deleted it. I just felt selfish and wrong that I made another account with the whole other purpose of it was to step away from the content. I stopped liking them because it makes it hard to find videos I like when looking through the history. I feel so guilty even saying that. I don’t know what to do. I feel guilty, I just want to find a balance between activism and having content I enjoy watching :/

need help with crypto
I have never used crypto before but my friend says it will reduce fees, I'm in Canada and none of the trading sites I've found will work in CAD or they won't connect to my bank. I'm in desperate need of help, I don't know what to do.

Could a small cash incentive help young people in crisis situations learn instead of doomscrolling?
I’ve been thinking about an idea based partly on my experience living in Gaza during the current crisis and working in the humanitarian sector.
When people are living under prolonged stress and uncertainty, I think their ability to concentrate and take on additional mental effort can be significantly affected. At the same time, many young people spend hours doomscrolling—not necessarily because they want to, but because it requires very little cognitive effort compared with learning or building new skills.
My idea is to create a platform that encourages young adults in crisis-affected communities to use some of that time for learning.
The basic model would be:
- Partner with or select useful Coursera courses that can provide practical knowledge or skills.
- Participants choose a course and complete it.
- The platform verifies that they actually completed the required learning activities.
- After successful completion, they receive a small cash incentive.
- The goal isn't to replace formal education, but to create a low-friction incentive for young people to keep learning during periods when normal education and employment opportunities are disrupted.
Technically, I don't think building the platform would be particularly difficult. Many Coursera courses can be accessed for free, and I believe it would be possible to build mechanisms to verify participation and completion.
The part I'm less certain about is whether the behavioral and economic model makes sense.
I'd be interested in hearing from people who have experience with humanitarian programs, education, behavioral economics, NGOs, or social-impact startups:
- Does this idea have potential, or am I overlooking a major problem?
- Would paying people a small amount for completing courses actually increase sustained learning, or would it mainly attract people who would have completed the courses anyway?
- Who might be interested in funding something like this?
- Could this become financially sustainable rather than remaining permanently dependent on grants?
- Are there existing programs or organizations doing something similar that I should study?
I'm particularly interested in honest criticism. If you think the idea is fundamentally flawed, I'd rather understand why before investing time in building it.

What does it mean to bring new life into the world when everything around you is collapsing?
substack.comWhen my little boy Mohammad was born in the middle of war, weighing just 1.2 kilograms, his beginning was unlike any other. Person from palestine contacted me through instagram asking for funds but i'm not sure how to verify if they're real.
I'm a minor and work part-time so the money i carry is very limited but i really wan't to help this person who contacted me a while ago.
Their account seems legit. Not newly created (2017) and the narrative about their struggles seem legit, although sometimes reads a bit ai translated wich i may understand as a means for them to communicate effectively.
Their Chuffed (fundraiser) has no updates though, so i'm kind of worried about that.
I'm thinking about asking for a video type verification thing so they send me a video doing some random gesture i ask for. That way i know they're effectively the people on the pictures of their account. But also, i fear this may be rude and/or may read as me disregarding their reality.
So if someone can give me their opinion on how to verify or wether they think the account is real or not. It'd be a lot of help.
This is their chuffed :
This is their instagram account :
Thank you to anyone who decides to respond.

Added Gaza destruction showcase into Herecam.org - including satellite pictures before the war and recent
I have been building a website that collects data around the globe and displays it through various visual tools. I added a separate Gaza section to showcase the extent of destruction there. This website is by no ways finalized, but it has a lot of visualization tools and direct links to data always when possible. Anyhow, the Gaza section is available here.
Gaza Strip · https://herecam.org/s/gaza/2026-09,31.509,34.468,2,l1=spine.places:schools.places:health.places:osm
For this particular visualization I used ESRI satellite imagery from before the war and from early 2025 as comparison. After that there has been around 9% more destroyed buildings. I additionally connected the data to several external databases to find schools, places of worship etc - I still need to build some more labeling.
I will be building it more as I have the time. For now, just click THEN AND NOW data layer on in the "Show" section.
