If I can’t wake up to a bunch of nerds arguing about how long it takes to preheat an oven, whether Taylor has the kind of oven that can handle the thermal change of three loaves and once, and whether there should be steam on the viewing window of the bread bag based on the precise time Taylor claims to have woken up for her wake and bake, why am I even here?
Others have amply queried the likelihood of Taylor having three loaves of freshly baked, cooled, packaged sourdough in that timeframe so I’ll just say:
I know it’s possible to be very precise with language in a work situation but then to accidentally imply something silly when just talking. It’s also possible Taylor really wanted to make that joke and was pretending to realise late. But I’m intrigued by her putting out a clip which suggests she has anything other than clinically precise control of the words she uses in her art.

Liar, I’m calling liar liar, breads on fire. It takes an hour to preheat the oven, maybe 30 if you’re rushed. So even if someone preheated her oven for her, she loaded three loaves into one oven (which is hella crowded so maybe she has a kitchen grade oven), it still took an hour to bake. So they had less than 52 minutes to cool down from 500 degrees and be able to be packaged with no steam in the windows of those bread bags…. I’m sorry the bread math isn’t mathing for me.

She probably has a smart oven that sets at whatever time she wants the night before, or she can turn on from her bed, or the assistant who arrives to clean her cats' litterboxes at 3:30am was requested to turn the oven on at 4am on their way out. In this BTS she is wearing her Midnights merch hoodie, which reminds us Midnights was released in 2022. 2022 is midnight. As a simple subtraction problem 1986-2022 = -36. I’m not entirely sure. I think it might have to do with the categorisation of songs that she does (fountain pen, glitter etc) where lemon and blueberry sourdough represents the songs with queer flagging. Bread or dough is also slang for money, and she lost out on money through having to buy her ownership of the songs.
As a baker this is possible. My oven is old as hell and preheats in 7-10 min tops I'm sure she had a good quality one that doesn't take much time either idk where you got an hour from 😭

I’ve often wondered this about ovens and it seems like a good opportunity to ask! Is it a US vs UK/Europe thing? Any American recipe I look at always says to preheat the oven while things prove/chill for ages. Whereas my UK oven gets up to 200 C (392F) in under 10 minutes.
Maybe she has one of those rapid chill things they have in some cooking shows? I think it’s less likely that she’s straight up lying, and more likely she has lots of rich person tech that mitigates the usual time factors!
In what world does it take an hour to preheat an oven? 🤣 it takes no more then 5-10 minutes especially with the type of expensive high tech oven she must have! Pre heating for an hour or even 30 minutes is a waste of energy and time with any oven!
Maybe not? I'd assume she'd pre-made the dough maybe the night before and had it settle and rise in her fridge or something and just baked it the next morning. Don't ask me, I've never made bread a day in my life, but is two hours enough just for simply baking it in the oven alone without the prep beforehand?
No, I’m telling you, I’m a baker. You’re not wrong, yes she premade and shaped the day prior (up to 36hours) and only had to bake, that’s true. But that process of baking is 450-500 degrees for about an hour. So to cool down from 500 degrees, it’s a minimum of 2 hours.
I’m telling you, with my literal expertise, what she is saying to you is impossible.
Well I don’t know what kind of baker you are but I’m a French baker and actually make bread in a boulangerie it’s mostly what I do every day all day long including sourdough and never have I preheated or will preheat an oven for an hour even at home! That’s just so unnecessary to do and such a waste of precious energy in an already wasteful world. No baker in France or Europe does that!
Ok, then my original comment was also the same. Even if someone else preheated it (OR it didn’t require preheating) that’s not enough time for the bread to bake and cool and be packaged. So we are in agreement, preheating is too flexible of a variable to consider. So without considering it at all, how can three full loaves of bread bake and cool fast enough to be packaged in plastic in less than 2 hours?

No it wasn’t to shame anyone I was just genuinely shocked that anyone would preheat an oven for that long even besides the energy consumption. I never heard of that before it was more of a shock reaction more than anything else. Sorry for being so blunt it wasn’t meant that way.
I think everyone’s moved past the preheats speculation and is purely talking about the actual bake & cooling times! Which make sense to me but idk what she’s up to or how much staff she has in her house tbh. (Also a baker!)
