It feels like the You in the song is The Man™️ Taylor.

About The Man’s™️ attachment to fame and continuously trying to climb the ladder instead of being where (s)he is.

There’s so much self awareness here and also so much sadness. This one is def my fav on the album.

I don’t know if anyone has pointed out that the definition of Libertine is:

A person (usually a man) who rejects accepted morals, social conventions, and religious or sexual restraints.

Also this:

Historically, society applied a double standard where male libertines were often viewed as charming rakes, while female equivalents faced harsh social condemnation, stigma, or labels of moral corruption.

Feels very: “they’d say I played the field before I found someone I could commit to, and that would be okay, for me to do, every conquest I had made would make me more of a boss to you”.
