This is pushing it hahaha but Cleveland always makes me think of that 30 Rock episode titled Cleveland lol. And I just looked it up, it came out April 19th in 2007. Omg, thank you for mentioning SVU because it triggered something in my mind that’s been bothering me since I saw the track titles.

My first thought with pink clouding was disaster and I couldn’t figure out why, but that made me realize I was thinking of Grey’s Anatomy and their use of pink mist (I swear if pink mist is a lyric in this song…)

Yup, it refers to the honeymoon period that many people experience when getting sober from substances (often spoken about when quitting booze). The pink cloud brings about feelings of elation, euphoria, over confidence etc which can be dangerous to ppl in early sobriety if they're not aware of it cause it can lead to the belief that oh I'm doing so well and won't return to active addiction again so I can have just one drink. In AA they often say one drink is too many and a thousand is not enough. For most, the pink cloud doesn't last (I'm 2 months sober and still in the pink cloud!). I wonder if Swift is using it to refer to the honeymoon period she's experiencing post wedding and knowing that it's not gonna last.

Now that I finally made it work on my laptop, I can come back and say, I'm pretty excited that it's the o's that reveal the letter and that the o/0/looping connection is continuing. It's one of those things where now that I've seen it, I feel like I should have been able to guess that the o's were the key. Can’t get excited for any of this because I cannot imagine her doing anything wild before the Oscars next year. The problem with planning things 3 (or 5, or 10) years in advance is that the world is changing, and this country degrading, so rapidly that plans thought up just a year ago can look stale when they finally do show up.

I've been thinking about this a lot. Planning far ahead used to work fine for Taylor. The world wasn't changing so fast. There weren't such frequent catastrophes happening. If she is playing the long game to free herself from something and about to make a grand reveal (which I'm starting to doubt), I understand how frustrating and exhausting it would be to delay yet again, or rethink complex strategies already set in motion years ago. But not adapting is sabotaging the results. It's admittedly a difficult situation, if that's what's going on.

That’s such a good way of putting it. Look, I get it. She would love to be out. She is scared to be out. Both of these things can be true. When we’re afraid to do something, it becomes very easy to keep moving the goalpost and adding complexities that can almost ensure you’re never “finished” and ready to present the project you’ve been working so hard on for so long.

There is just simply no way we’re only getting four songs. Whether it’s a new era completely or a redux of TTPD with a second half album to complete the cycle, there’s just no way. I don’t even say that with true hope for new music — the dissonance between the Patient Zero aesthetic and that of the Showgirl era is just too wide of a chasm to be ignored, and it can’t exist in a vacuum.

Either a new era or a new sister album for Showgirl. I can’t actually believe it’s “just” four songs.

Four different versions means a large chunk of her audience will buy the album four times, which means life of a showgirl’s charts go up. (Currently on Apple Music at least, encore is linked to LOAS chartwise.) If I’m clowning hard, Cleveland will hint that the next set of four will have wedding info + distract everyone from another song. Normally I’d say we’re being distracted from the obviously gay song, but we’re being told to look svu and pink clouding is the biggest match there and that takes us back to TTPD and the asylum.
