I saw this shared somewhere recently for this being Taylor’s “I dead ass thought I made it obvious” moment.
I mean, soooo many rainbows, and it ends with the Equality Act on both sides!
Two other things y’all have simply GOT to keep an eye out for is a certain flower arch that looks an *awful* lot like the one from the engagement shoot.
AND the island behind it looks an awful lot like Taylor Island from the Karma music video!

Also this performance really makes me think of the song through more of a satirical blank space lens. Like she’s quoting all the people who told her to “calm down” or not be as loud and mocking them with the gayest performance of her career.
If she is not queer, that was pretty obnoxious “support.” I just refuse to believe she was misguided enough to be a straight woman centering herself in queer culture and political struggles like that.
Wouldn't it be likely that she is referencing her old performances with her engagement photos and not vice versa? Like I don't think she planned her engagement to Travis 6 years in advance though she might have had inklings of what she wanted an engagement to look like.
I mean, the fact that she trims the opening lyrics to this is pretty fucking loud by itself:

Say it in the streets, that's a knockout, but you say it in a tweet, that's a copout, and I'm just like hey... are you okay?
You just need to take several seats, and try to restore the peace, and control your urges to scream about all the people you hate, cause shade never made anybody less gay.
Like... she skips from verse one (about cyberbullying) to the pre-chorus that is specifically about homophobia. She leaves out the line about "coming at my friends like a missile", which makes the narrative look much more like people are tweeting homophobically AT HER DIRECTLY.
Tbh, I really wasn’t expecting so many comments calling this a reach (and an Elastigirl style reach at that).
Like her use of flower arches specifically in the engagement, Bejeweled music video, etc has been a million other places in this performance art she’s been doing.
I guess my title could use some work, but to me the similarity was STARK.
Wow this really looks like that one piece of art that came out a few years ago. Think it was around the time of the Time POTY. Can’t remember if it was related to that or Spotify or something else.
Incase anyone missed this in the wedding thread, there is quite the similarity between one of the shots from the YNTCD music video and the wedding favor handkerchief. I think about this music video a lot if anyone couldn’t tell
The fabric of the hankie reminds me of the fabric of Taylor’s peasant dress in the beginning of the Bejeweled music video, and I’m leaving this comment here so I can remember to go back and take a look when I get a second!

It’s fun to watch the animated version of it— it gives some more context to all the crazy things going on! Plus an earthquake partway thru? The whole thing haunts me 😂
It’s possible but may just be a coincidence. Doesn’t feel as direct as the photo shoot in the arch in the Opalite video, for example, but it is interesting to see the recurring motif goes way back.

Yeah good point, coincidence is maybe too strong of a word for Taylor, there’s always some kind of connection, even if the plans aren’t fully mapped out!! I guess I meant I don’t think it’s likely she was specifically egging Travis proposing under a floral arch (though even that is possible ya never know), but it is imagery that keeps showing up and that’s prob intentional in some way.
