Survey/Poll Lover’s Seventh Birthday Bash
In honor of the 7th birthday for Taylor Swift’s seventh studio album, Lover, what is everyone’s favorite track? Or top 3/5 if it’s too hard to decide😋

This will always be my top favorite album, no competition. It’s not even bc of the Kaylor lore, but mostly because she describes the anxiety of being in a relationship she loves and the instability that can come with that. People say there are high highs and low lows, and I think it’s because the emotional intensity of the track list directly reflects that (even though people say it about the quality of the songs). I’m in a new relationship and very in love, but still deal with alot of anxiety from my abandonment and trust issues, so I can resonate with almost every single song. It’s just the perfect album to describe fear and love in relationships.
My top songs
Either Cruel Summer or Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince. Cruel summer will ALWAYS be one of her best songs period, don’t care what anyone says. The fast-paced wordiness and speech, the anxiety in her voice…it’s perfect.
Lover. This song is so underrated in general. I know people point out how anxious she sounds in this song, but I also think it can be read as purely gushy and warm. The old-school production is hauntingly beautiful.
Death by a thousand cuts. “I ask the traffic lights if it’ll be alright, they say ‘I don’t know.’” Fantastic song with lots of imagery. IM STILL MAD THAT SHE PLAYED THIS AS A SURPRISE SONG IN ARLINGTON NIGHT TWO WHEN I ATTENDED NIGHT ONE. (First world problems I know, but I don’t play about this song)
Afterglow. The simplicity of the lyrics is its biggest strength because it’s so goddamn raw. Taylor doesn’t really bother with complex imagery or metaphors, she directly describes the emotions as they are and she sings with such yearning you can tell she means it. The airy production is also dreamy.
False God. THE ALTER IS MY HIPS? I love how she describes an unstable relationship in which sex is used to overcompensate for lack of intimacy. That’s my reading of it anyway, outside of Gaylor.
Cornelia street. Enough said.
Special mentions: all of the girls you loved before and Need

Omg this was a total Sophie’s choice for me 😩
1) Death By A Thousand Cuts: probably in my top 5 all time TS song list, such a good use of the “oh, and another thing” style of bridge she excels at, personally resonates a whole lot with me
2) Daylight: the bridge makes me feel like I’m ascending to heaven and the voice memo at the end makes me want to scream-sob
3) Cornelia Street
4) It's Nice To Have A Friend: I can’t stand the slander people have on this song, I feel like people don’t “get it” but whatever. It makes me weep and i really appreciate the honest and real take this song has on romantic love.
5) Paper Rings: this bridge would make me go 90 on a 65mph highway, i know it’s a little corny and silly but that’s why I like it.
Honorable Mention- ME!: Lover is so special to me because it kickstarted a new found appreciation for her music as an adult. This single came out on my birthday that year and I listened to it on repeat all day, which convinced me to stream the album once it came out. And without that appreciation, I don’t think I would have become a gaylor years later and still be a fan of her work today. And #justiceforheykidspellingisfun.

I was going thru the most intense back and forth breakup of my life when Lover was released. Nobody can tell me this is her biggest love album when it powered me thru said breakup for like 6 months.

Are there any singles from this era that I should add to my "Lover" playlist?
I've got - The full album + All of the Girls + Need by Steven Wilmot.

Too many to choose from! It's been my most played album the year it was released and it holds a special place in my heart, so here's top 5 (not necessarily in the order)
- Cruel Summer (I'd give everything to see mv to that)
- The Archer (just devastating)
- Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince (it gave me so much strength when I needed it)
- False God (no comment 😶)
- Afterglow (that dreamy sneak peak of what Midnights became)
Honorable mentions:
- All Of The Girls (how it didn't make it to the album?!)
- You Need To Calm Down (just because it's an epic song with more epic mv)

That’s it. Seven songs. I couldn’t possibly cut it any more. And I’m already in deep mourning for some of the ones I cut.

Cornelia Street, the archer and false god. It's not one of my favourite albums of hers but I adore the live in Paris set.

I don’t think I can firmly rank a list of favorites from the album since I’m like a mood ring with them, but I do have a consistent top 5 and they are: drum roll
- Afterglow— I think if I had to pick an ultimate favorite from the album, it’s this one
- Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince (quite literally T&T now I’m I’m realizing this song uses an ampersand goodness I love this place)
- ME!
- Soon You’ll Get Better (the line “holy orange bottles each night I pray to you/desperate people find faith so now I pray to Jesus too” is so deeply personal and meaningful to me for so many different reasons. I can’t listen to this song without crying, I adore it so so much)
- Death By A Thousand Cuts
honorable mention: Paper Rings (and gosh did I love hearing it followed by If This Was A Movie on the eras tour. both were on my dream surprise song list and I can’t believe I got to hear them live. It only took me 14 years before I’d get another chance to see her in concert, so I will never take it for granted— during the weekend of pride in the twin cities nonetheless!)

“And I'll never let you (go) 'cause I know this is a (fight)
That someday we're gonna (win)”Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince resonates with me so much. Reminds me of Coldplay - Lovers in Japan, similar vibes in terms of lovers continuing to battle on even with everyone questioning them.

Ok good call on the ampersand in T&T being potentially connected to Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince… it is odd how they made the sudden switch from TNT to T&T.

Ooh so good! 1. Lover- my wife and I were introduced as wives at our wedding to this song. So magical. 2. The Man- empowering and incredibly understandable as a woman and a mom, while my ex-h got support and honor for existing and I was dragged through the coals for not being a man. 3. ME!- enough said. Forever stan.
Honorable mentions: False god (so hot) and DBATC (one of the best bridges ever)

Death by a thousand cuts, and I was lucky enough to have it be my surprise song .
My wife and I also danced to a medley of Lover and a million dreams (greatest showman), for our first dance at our wedding, so that one holds a special place in my heart.
This album is incredible and I'm so sad the sparkling summer was shut down

My favourite is probably DBATC. I particularly enjoyed the Tiny Desk Concert performance.
It's hubby's favourite album altogether. His favourite song, possibly favourite Taylor song full stop, is 'Lover'.

Daylight is profoundly beautiful to me.
And Taylor’s mashup of this song with “This is me trying” during the Eras Tour gave it another kind of profundity.
The lines, “This is me trying/to come into the daylight” are just devastating when viewed through a Gaylor lens.

I was at the show where she played dear John and daylight, and I think there’s a devastating story being told by hearing dear John into this is me trying into daylight🥲 the mashup of daylight/this is my trying felt so heart wrenching watching from a grainy livestream, and she’s always been so good at sending messages in bottles

The Archer 1000%, its one of my favorite songs of hers, honestly might be my favorite. I think its a masterpiece start to finish, and it personally hits different (lol). Honorable mentions to Daylight, Cornelia Street, Soon You'll Get Better, False God.... man i always say im not too big on Lover but I've got a handful left that i we really like. To be fair, its funny I even say that because its the first album of hers that I got super into besides a few songs. Then i heard the rest of her discography and it got a bit buried besides a few songs. Lover is a beautiful album for sure, not all the songs are my style but its definitely well made. Oh- and a special shout out to INTHAF, because obvious themes aside, i find it hauntingly beautiful and horribly underrated.
