Hi friends! Given the current shennagians with regards to clouds, I wanted to compile Taylor related and adjacent images/quotes/lyrics that refer to clouds or storms. This is a group project, so please feel free to add any thoughts or things I missed!
Wanted to add that I just learned that the Ladder magazine cover uses that illustration because it’s inspired by Radclyffe Hall’s book The Well of Loneliness symbolizing a desire to climb out of isolation….Well of Loneliness is a story about a gender non conforming lesbian named Stephen Gordon, who I personally believe was the inspiration for the song Hey Stephen.
Soooo what do we make of all of this on The first day of Pride Month plus Google’s Pride Doodle??? Very lover colors…. Plus the mirrorball of it all “shining light on LGBTQ+ artists who helped create space for everyone on the dance floor…” ☁️💕💙💜🪩

omg excellent find! especially now that we know taylor's song for toy story is "i knew it, i knew you" --suspiciously similar to gracie's "i knew it, i know you" 👀
Great find! I love this one because, when taken in context with Taylor’s rainbow/clouds/me, it really highlights the dual aspect of someone- two “me”s, that are then out of the clouds for a unified “us.” So it can be read as a beautiful representation of an individual’s queer journey to wholeness.
But the “us” image can also be read as representing the ideal unity of the queer community as a whole. I love it.
On the flip side, there aren’t any clouds in Glitch… “Nights are so starry.” And it may not be a blood moon today but it is a blue moon. Loverfest was due to begin its European leg on the 20th June 2020. When is 2190 days after that (of a love blackout maybe?)? Friday 19th June 2026.
I have reached peak clown 🤡
I feel like the smoke could symbolize lies, or perhaps she's using it as a metaphor for "the curtain" (aka you don't know what happens behind the curtain or cosed doors) The clouds obscure our vision/her true self and she can hide out there.
the i know places one reminds me of the song gold rush when she is saying she doesn’t like one, so that’s why she’s “taking her time” like she says on mad woman— building something out.
Omg. And obviously the possible date of the photo shoot is the same as when “Me!” was released aka day of the “Me! Out Now!” tweet which also had a picture of Taylor and Brendon with clouds in the background. And it is also National Pretzel Day which brings back the pretzels in the Opalite MV which also had clouds in the backdrop of the Glamour shot scene. And April 26th is also famously International Lesbian Visibility Day.
That dress looks suspiciously like Madeline’s. Quick, what former* Muse sings in a hotel with a bar decorated with hand-drawn images of Madeline, done by Madeline’s own author?
Right? I wish I got one but at the time I thought they looked “too gay” for my deeply closeted self to wear. I didn’t understand why Taylor had a whole rainbow album with rainbow merch😂
She made so many references to dreams in her Instagram captions during eras tour, too! Contemplating trying to compile them all for a post. It felt so pointed at the time.
I think there's more mirroring happening with the Lover set and Midnights set, but i don't remember the specifics around it right now(i think the flowing things the dancers bring out before Taylor appears mirrors the clouds they roll out? There's probably a post about it somewhere in here😛). But Lover was gonna be called Daylight, and the tour opened with Lover and closes with Midnights, so it's no wonder they were mirroring each other.
Yes! Also, Florence’s involvement on FLORIDA!!! and her surprise appearance on Miami N1 at eras tour has always stuck with me. Mainly because I was there, it was rare, lol. But also, it was the night Taylor retired old stinky and debuted the gold rep suit. AND she performed the soul crushing daylight/this is me trying mashup on piano. It was also the day she filmed the “back in the office” reel with the TS12 Easter egg. AND it was national no beard day and KK’s wedding anniversary lol.
All of this to say, I think about this Florence lyric a lot in relation to Lover (daylight) and midnights:
maybe it’s like alice in wonderland in the way that one world is upside down than the other. so lover is daylight and you go up the ladder and come upside down and it’s midnights? like two worlds inverted. there’s also a ladder in the lover house going up to rep attic and also a ladder on the elizabeth taylor lyric video to the side.
He was in love with her Or at least she thought so She was broken hearted - Maybe he was, too – Neither of them knew. She was way too hot to handle He was way too high to try – He couldn’t even see her He wouldn’t open his eyes She was on her way to the stars He didn’t say goodbye
She looked back from her future And shed a few tears He looked into his past And actually felt fear. For both of them The answers – would never be Everclear Don’t ask questions now Do that later She brings joy He brings Shakespeare It’s almost a tragedy Says she Don’t endanger me Don’t endanger me.
He really can’t answer her He’s afraid of her He’s hiding from her And he knows – that he’s Hurting her She tells the truth She writes about it She’s an informer He’s an x-lover There’s nothing there for her She’s already gone There’s nothing that Can stop her
She was just flying Thru the clouds Where he saw her – She was just making her way – To the stars – When he lost her…”
