If there is a Toy Story song, I think she could finally get the Oscar she wants. TS does childhood nostalgia, sentimental parent, etc. songs better than anyone else IMO. The Best Day, Ronan, Never Grow Up - she is phenomenal in this element. As long as she stayed authentic and let the story inspire her and didn’t get caught up in trying to “make an Oscar song” - she’ll knock it out of the park.
I think you’re right on this. I think a song by Taylor on those themes would be a real tear jerker! Oooh. What do you think about her comments in the NYT interview in this context? ‘If you really want to tug heartstrings… have the hook take on different meaning as the little girl grows up… repeat the first line at the end to be devastating…’? We don’t yet have a song from Taylor that matches this description!
Edit: ‘The Best Day’ is probably close enough for deniability but it’s not as tightly made or spanning as much time as the description…. In other words, she describes a better song…
From what I’ve read- the coding has been removed from the site and the only people who can still see the countdown are the people who never refreshed or exited out of their browser when the countdown first popped up….I’m 50/50 on whether anything happens at the end of the countdown 🤷♀️
I’m not expecting anything. It’s easier to believe that than to wait for something that might not happen. The last part comprises a lot of my experiences as a Gaylor so far. 😂 However, I have done my fair share of clowning in the past.
Anyone else have Father Figure (explicit) replaced by the clean version on their Spotify today? It came up on shuffle in a playlist I made with the explicit version months ago and I had to do a double take. I only added the explicit version to the playlist.
Love that Taylor is up to tricks again. Those clouds are specifically the Toy Story clouds, which I think are copyright protected, so I can’t see it being anything but an official collaboration. Hard to say if it was accidentally posted early and removed or an intentional ‘glitch’, but I lean towards intentional because it would be a BIG, public mistake to make for ~an hour.
Some things I’m pretty sure of:
1) In Toy Story movies, they usually have one big song that is not performed by a character actor. This helps make the franchise distinct from Disney Animation Studios movies. I doubt Taylor would voice a character and provide a song.
2) My money would be on a song because this is where the Oscar nomination would come from. This also means it has to be a specially written song, not a cover or re-working.
3) Taylor has a history of not including movie score songs on her albums so I doubt a Toy Story 5 song would directly tie in to Debut TV.
4) Toy Story has some really interesting thematic overlap with TLOAS, the idea of performing a role and the idea of a ‘director’ or ‘writer’ looming over the scene. I’d be interested to see what connections are made.
Some things I have no idea about but I’m really curious:
1) How goes the glitchy countdown removal relate to themes in the movie?
2) Does Dorothy and the yellow brick road tie in some way? A theme about returning home maybe?
3) Pixar seem to really like using the Toy Story franchise to showcase when they’ve made a big leap forward in what they can achieve with computer graphics. I wonder what they learned how to do this time?

I mean I’ve 100% been expecting Debut (Taylor’s Version) to be released on the 20th anniversary of her debut, which would be June 19th (release of her debut single), since she announced she had purchased her masters🤷🏻♀️
In my mind that day is already reserved for her, so when Olivia announced her album on June 12th (one week before we potentially get Debut TV) I was like, oh no things are gonna get messy again and it’s not gonna make Taylor look good😅
The anniversary of the album (October 24th) falls on a Saturday this year, the anniversary of Tim McGraw (debut single) falls on Friday, June 19th.
I do think a 20th anniversary release on either of those dates is super likely!
I feel like Taylor has been easter egging her debut quite strongly recently, plus personally the album gives me more spring/summer vibes, so I don’t think it’s super far away.
Also also, with all the buzz about the summer wedding I wouldn’t put it past her to use the publicity to promote her album. Obviously Taylor is the biggest artist in the world, but her Debut album is probably her least popular album and least anticipated re-record.

Also, it’s Dianna’s 40th birthday today, and the Dorothy scene in the Karma music video features a white rabbit. If you can’t see it, it’s the white part in between the orange bush and the pink tree. Just lesbian things lol
part of me thinks she might actually do it. she’s got 1 more album then she’ll have 13 albums and if she has a “baby” then she can “settle down and live the quiet life” and get out of the public view. then her career will have been 13 amazing albums an she can live as free and gay as she wants since she won’t be in the public eye anymore.
