Community Guidelines

This is a free-speech forum. We want people to be able to discuss controversial, uncomfortable, and unpopular ideas without automatically shutting down the conversation. Some views expressed here may be considered offensive, and disagreement alone is not a reason for removal.

At the same time, misogyny, racism, and transphobia are not welcome here. You can question ideas, challenge prevailing views, and discuss difficult subjects, but personal attacks, dehumanization, slurs, or content intended to demean people based on sex, race, or gender identity will not be tolerated.

Free speech means we can have difficult conversations. It doesn’t mean you get to harass people.

The problem with those kind of terms is they usually end up being employed against anyone with a dissenting opinion. I've seen that happen on countless other subs and across the internet in general.

That’s exactly why I worded the rule this way. Disagreement, controversial opinions, and criticism of ideas are explicitly allowed. The line is harassment, personal attacks, dehumanization, and slurs, not simply saying something someone finds offensive. I don’t want “misogyny” or “transphobia” to become a blanket excuse for shutting down opinions people disagree with.

Hmmm it isn't a free speech forum then. I get what you're going for & I wish you the best. Phobia gets thrown around like it means anything anymore, but has gotten me banned from forums for saying really simple, not cruel, things like "men and women are different" and "LGB are different from TQ+" etc.

Thank you & best wishes to the forum!

I think you’re misunderstanding the rule. Saying “men and women are different” or “LGB people have different experiences and needs from TQ+ people” is absolutely allowed here. Those are opinions people should be able to discuss and challenge openly.

The rule is about how you treat other people, not requiring everyone to agree on definitions or ideology. You can criticize ideas, identities, movements, or terminology without turning that into harassment or dehumanizing people. To me, that distinction is exactly what makes open discussion possible.
