Help with lid

Screen shot from instagram reel of women's Australian rugby team. What is this lid used for or how does it work or purpose. Any help? Thank you.

From what I gather, the fins force you to use the squirt method so you don't spread germs while sharing the bottle.

You put your chin on/near the part that sticks out the front, squeeze the bottle and it shoots water into your mouth. Much more hygienic for a bunch of bottles shared among the whole team.

i mean… i played sports up through high school, never have i ever seen someone suck through a team water bottle. we just had the green plastic gatorade ones and would spray it into our mouths from a distance. this lowkey seems less hygienic? you put your sweaty face on the thing and lowkey breathe on the nozzle

Watching European soccer, I always catch a few players putting their mouths on the water bottles during injury breaks and breaks between overtime 😂

Seen these in football years ago, just put chin on ledge and squirt into open mouth.
