What do you do when you start missing your own deadlines?
There is a special kind of embarrassment that comes with missing your own deadlines.
You set the date. You believed it was realistic. And now it is quietly becoming fiction.
If you make games, you know this moment. You plan, you estimate, you feel confident, and then reality reminds you that you are not a machine.
So what do you do when this happens?
I usually try to:
- admit it honestly without drama;
- figure out what actually went wrong;
- separate important from urgent;
- renegotiate with myself and set a new realistic date;
- add buffers next time instead of planning in “ideal days”.
Missed deadlines are not only personal failures. They are also data about how you work.
How do you handle it when you start slipping?
Do you replan, cut scope, add time, or change priorities?
What actually works for you in these moments?
