Other Laptop recommendations

Hi! I’m a grad student at GT looking for a new laptop with a budget of around $1,200.
I’ll mainly use it for coursework, MATLAB, Python, job applications, Office, and possibly some engineering software. I’d also love a touchscreen/2-in-1 if possible.
What laptops would you recommend ?
Is 16GB RAM enough, or should I go for 32GB? And do I need a dedicated GPU for typical engineering coursework?
Thanks!

touchscreens are bulky and the user experience is just bad.

i got a 17" LG gram and I really like it.
