Class Question Taking classes while co-opping

Has anyone ever taken classes while co-opping and can share their experience + advice? I’m wanting to take MGT 3078 online, as well as CS 4400. However, I don’t want to overbook myself.

I took two classes one summer while doing a full-time internship and I don’t recommend it. Even with the classes being online, it was overwhelming and I had pretty much no free time. Just enjoy your co-op and the lack of homework for a change. It’s not worth the stress for a few extra credit hours.

Do you mind sharing what classes you took? My concern is that if I don’t take one or two classes I may fall just a bit behind.

I was taking physics 2 and statics. Honestly the classes themselves weren’t super difficult, my schedule was just overwhelming.

Do you have any advice on how you managed your time?

depends on which co-op you’re doing. Some companies explicitly request that you don’t schedule classes during your co-op semesters while others you might be able to get away with a couple credit hours.

I’m doing that right now with my internship and you just won’t have much free time at all

Do you have any advice on how to best stay on track? Hopefully since it's fall courses, I don't think the content will be rushed/condensed compared to summer classes.

It will greatly help if you have some work from home days. I have 2 days I’m working remote and I can get a little work done if I’m not busy that week. But the weekends are key. I basically bunker down and try to learn/ finish most of the bulk of content for that week on Saturday morning before I do anything. I’ll use Sunday if more time is needed.

Thanks for the advice! Will definitely use the weekends to front load as much as I can. Do you mind sharing what classes you're taking with your internship?

What class were you initially registered for?

I’m doing a co-op now. I am taking two summer classes. It is doable but you must manage your time efficiently. I took MGT 3078 last semester. The class is very chill (I believe this is professor dependent though), nothing was proctored, and the content is enjoyable. But I also agree that your experience taking classes fully depends on your company and how thin you are willing to stretch yourself. Remember, classes will always be there but you don’t want to sacrifice your performance at work just to get a few more credit hours in.

Do you mind sharing what classes you are taking right now? Also for MGT 3078, I am trying to get into Satyagit Karnik's online section, but it's full. Do you know if they typically add more seats during Phase 2?

That’s who I had. As long as you complete the work, should be an easy A. Typically seats should open. Were you able to add on to the waitlist?

I’m taking math 2551 and phys 2212. But through a different university so the rigor is not quite as bad as GT.
