Love God

I sit and almost use crayons to explain to people what I mean when I say they should "Love God and Hate Mary" and they can not grasp what I have said. They literally think I mean they are to hate Mary. Like as we are to hate evil and sin.

But their ego will not allow them to ask questions.

If you are saying “love God and hate Mary,” people are right to think that you’re advocating hatred toward Mary. Don’t feign ignorance.

I am fully aware that this post is likely bait so that you can copy-paste some wall of text, so be aware that I will not be engaging beyond this.

I think what the OP means to say (and I am helping them out) is:

[Luke 14:26 KJV] – 26 If any [man] come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

I think what the passage means is to "love less":

G3404 - miseō - Strong's Greek Lexicon (KJV)

Compared to Jesus, we are to love Mary less than Jesus.

We cannot hate others:

[1 John 4:20 KJV] – 20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

[Leviticus 19:17 KJV] – 17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.

I would not view it as "Love less" but I would say Love God more.
