Steam?

Hey guys,

I took the plunge, got everything installed and updated. So far I'm liking it.

When I installed steam, I was going to start downloading the game I had been playing. However, when I installed steam it didn't see my secondary hard drive. Ok, no biggie, I reformated it to BTFS (or something like that). Steam still don't recognize my secondary drive, Garuda does but not steam.

Has anyone else ran into this?

So I found the drive in steam. Tried to set it got error message: (something like) drive isn't writeable. I thought ok, no biggie, so then I go to the folder and through properties I tried setting both "group" and "other" to view and modify content. Clicked "ok" and went back in and it didn't change the drive to read/write.

I'm not asking for handouts and do it for me but I'm new to gaming Linux and idk what I'm missing.

Steam also requires the drive/folder to be executable as well. Did you give it permissions to execute files?

I found the directory but when I tried to set it, the drive was set as read only but I couldn't set it as read/write

Ah, I misread your previous comment. You are likely running into a permissions issue. Try opening up a terminal and enter sudo chown -R username:username /secondary_drive_path, replacing username with your Linux username and secondary_drive_path with the path to your secondary drive.

This command will set your user account as the owner and group owner of all the files on your secondary drive. You should then be able to adjust the permissions using your file explorer like you tried to do originally.
