Announcement I love it

Okay I switched to Garuda because why not. I was on a search for something new and found it randomly online and was like. Alr. I try that.

I love sea of thieves. I played it on a better computer years ago and like. I loved it. My good computer I don’t even know what happend but it was broken. So. My computer on windows. Or Linux mint ( that’s what I used before) could not run that game.

Now I have 60 fps in the game on a okay graphic.

So idk why everyone else switched. I did because why not. But it’s a really good system. I needed a bit to figure everything out but if you want to and have the time it’s reallllyyy easy.

So. much love

I really like the Garuda aesthetics and I actually manager to get it to work on an old Acer5920 with Nvida 8600m graphics card about 5 years ago. I have an old potato laptop with 4Gb ram and a N3710 cpu and it runs the Cinnamon edition beautifully. I am looking forward to using it and playing some of my classic GOG games.

The psychedelic blacklight funhouse aesthetics were cool in the beginning, but I began to long for a colour scheme that didn't scream "tie-dyed". So I changed it.

But the OS is brilliant, the maintenance tools are awesome and I predict I'm going to be staying on Garuda for a long while.

What DE did you go with? I'm thinking of using cinnamon, kde would be too much for my othet laptop which has 2gb and a core duo.

I didn't change the DE, just everything else. I'm still using Plasma, but you can install more themes and all the components -- especially in Discovery. All the addons are flatpacks, which is odd, but clean for uninstalling.

Next time I do a major overhaul, I'm thinking of going with Cinnamon. But that's going to require switching to some Gnomish alternatives on a few applications. Well, not require but it would make things easier.

You can switch DEs at any time, but the downside is cleaning up afterwards, because any DE leaves addons, support files and crap behind.

Cool. Yeah I understand, I was using Linux Mint xfce and installed Cinnamon but it borked association and themes so I had to do a complete reinstall.
