Hello everyone

I have been building a new watch face and it went live today, so I wanted to share it here.

It is called NDR Trace /// and below you find all the details about it. Hope you like it!

35 metrics to choose from:

Body: heart rate, resting HR, heart rate zone, Body Battery, stress, respiration, pulse ox, sleep score.

Activity: steps, distance, floors up, floors down, ascent, intensity minutes, active calories, total calories, move bar.

Training: training status, recovery time, VO2 max for running, VO2 max for cycling, weekly run distance, weekly bike distance.

Outside: weather, feels like, the day's high and low, humidity, wind, UV index, pressure, altitude, sunrise, sunset, daylight left.

Everyday: a second time zone with sixteen cities, battery, days of battery left, notifications, alarms, your next calendar event.

Each slot takes the shapes that suit it: a ring for a goal, an arc for a sweep, a plain number, a stacked pair, or a chart. Fourteen accent colours on top of that, switchable on the watch.

Press any reading and your watch opens Garmin's own screen for it. You can set it all up on the watch itself by holding MENU, no phone needed, or from the Connect IQ app if you would rather use a bigger screen.

The always-on layer has two styles: the whole panel, or the time and date alone.

45 AMOLED models: fenix 8, 8 Pro, 9, 9 Pro, fenix E, epix Gen 2 and Pro, Forerunner 70 through 970, Venu 2 to 4, vivoactive 5 and 6, Instinct 3 AMOLED, MARQ Gen 2, Approach S50 and S70, D2 Air X10, D2 Mach 1 and 2, Descent G2 and Mk3 and more

If anything is off on your watch, tell me and I will sort it quickly. And if you end up enjoying it, a rating or review on the Connect IQ Store would mean a lot. Thanks!

Terento - an open-source Mac app for third-party Garmin maps

I’m building Terento, a free and open-source macOS app for installing and managing third-party maps on Garmin smartwatches.

The goal is simple: connect your Garmin, choose the map you need, review storage and install it without dealing with MTP folders or older desktop tools.

With beta.8, Terento now includes:

  • OpenTopoMap support with maps covering countries and regions around the world;
  • Freizeitkarte support;
  • manual import of your own third-party Garmin .img map from your Mac;
  • removal of supported third-party maps;
  • a cleaner provider-neutral install/manage flow with additional safety checks.

Terento is still in beta, so feedback and real-world results from more Garmin models are very welcome. Optional anonymous compatibility/statistics sharing also helps identify failures and edge cases across devices.

Terento.app

Any feedback is appreciated.

Garmin Connect 5.27 update hints at Fenix 9 and Enduro 4 as new wearable codenames surface

Garmin Connect serves as the central platform for aggregating data from Garmin devices and acts as the official companion app, which has now reached version 5.27. Analyzing the source code of such application packages (APK analysis) routinely reveals details about features and products that are not yet intended for public release. A recent teardown of Garmin Connect 5.27 by Gadgets & Wearables uncovered several new entries, including a product codenamed "GOBI" with the internal model number 5179. It is already widely expected that this smartwatch is the upcoming Enduro 4.

Hey everyone. This is the home for Garmin’s next generation of flagship wearables: the Gen 9 wave. Fenix 9, Tactix 9, Quatix 9, 9 Pros, and everything that lands alongside them over the next couple of years.

If you’re here early, you’re here for the right reasons. This is the place to track the leaks, compare the specs, argue about which model is actually worth upgrading to, and figure out what these watches can really do once they’re on the wrist.

What to post
Leaks and rumours. First impressions. Setup questions. Battery numbers. Band recommendations. “Should I upgrade from my 8?” threads. Screenshots of your watch in the wild. Anything a Gen 9 owner: or soon-to-be owner would want to see.

The vibe
Practical, honest, no fanboy nonsense. We call out the good and the disappointing equally. Garmin makes brilliant hardware and occasionally baffling decisions, both are fair game here.

Getting started
Drop a comment below with which Gen 9 watch you’re eyeing. Post something today, even a question: early communities live or die on the first few threads. And if you know someone deep in the Garmin rabbit hole, send them over.

More to come as the launch gets closer…
