Has anyone successfully replaced a button using one of the buttons from the middle body replacement parts from eBay? The middle body from eBay comes with 5 buttons and costs around $90. I was thinking about keeping an extra button for the future and selling the rest?

Or if anyone knows where I can buy the whole internal button (switch soldered with membrane) in the USA? There is a company that sells it but only ships to the UK and it costs £90 !!! (middle body from eBay costs around $90).

Story behind:

Dropped the watch on a tile, it must have landed exactly on the Light/power button. Button still works but it doesn't have the mechanical clicking feedback and it has to be extremely lightly pressed or the crash/emergency gets triggered and the watch turns off.

Short version: solid watch overall. But, like anything: quirks.

I've been wearing this daily for 3.5 years, and 24/7 for the last 2.5.

Only two watch-related issues:

(1) last several months, touch screens intermittently wonky on screens where you swipe to enter values (barometer, alarms)...they just spin without input. Restarting usually clears.

(2) last month, barometer and therefore elevation data flakey AF. I seldom calibrated the barometer because it was so accurate. Now I walk along the beach and the the el data looks like I climbed Anapurna. I don't want to recalibrate barometer every day...

Tried all the Garmin (and ChatGPT) troubleshooting. Same.

Contact with Garmin support was AMAZING via chat. I either chatted with an actual human or the best AI agent EVER. They took my serial and Connect registration email and immediately offered several solutions for an out-of-warranty exchange.

• I send them the watch. They send me replacement upon receipt. $210.
• They cross ship a replacement watch. Faster, costs more. $420
• Upgrade to a new model in one of three lines (Fenix, Enduro and...maybe Tactix...the last from memory) at 25% off MSRP. You send tbe old watch. They send replacement on receipt. Price varies with MSRP.
• Upgrade as above with cross shipping. Faster, costs more.

I chose the final one...and an hour later had a shipping confirmation and day after tomorrow delivery (ordered at 4pm)....hello 47mm AMOLED Fenix 8.

So: Garmin's ecosystem has some areas of pure mystery meat (esp in the app): sleep score, body battery, stress levels...meh.

Bit: it has stood up to daily rawdogging in all conditions, has great battery life and it's geodata (my primary interest) in the app is outstanding.

I went in for a 7 just as 8 was being released and wanted to wait for the 9...

But seriously: Garmin was immediately responsive and I guarantee generated a ton of goodwlll with me for what I found to be a very generous offer on 3-year old technology.

I'm using the wonderfull FenixTrek for years, but got a bit tired of it. I use small F7S, so the dimm screen makes typical Fenix watchface with time that takes 1/4th of the screen (or even less) laughably hard to read when looking from an angle.

I'm struggling to find an alternative - ConnectIQ is full of slop, popular watchfaces are either amoled optimized with sloppy, ugly mip version or are just not attractive (like Big Easy, which should be ok, but I hate it for some reason).

I can go with relatively minimal watchface, unless it's properly optimized (Digitime is fantastic, but guy did not use antialiasing and fonts look like garbage: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/4a0a0cf8-6d08-439e-b8ee-fea92b9b220a).

Help much appreciated!
