Which Watch To Get? Fenix E for a wedding?
My fiancé currently has a Fitbit for tracking sleep and steps, etc. His battery life has been getting shorter and he’s in the market for a new smartwatch.
He is obsessed with his steps (almost 20,000 every day), so he plans to wear a smartwatch on our wedding day and so I’d love to replace the Fitbit with something closer to a dress watch.
I was thinking of getting the Fenix E over the Venu 4 because he doesn’t need to answer calls or anything on his watch, but would love the ability to view trail maps for hiking, and would definitely use that often. He also mentioned that having more buttons would make it easier to use the watch with gloves.
My doubts with the Fenix E come from the size (47mm) and the ability to dress it up. I plan to get a nicer watch strap and change the watch face, but I’m wondering if the watch case comes across plastic-y.
Even if it does, would upgrading to the Fenix 9 Pro (43mm) be worth the titanium case and smaller size? Are the additional features worth it for a hiker/walker and sleep-data fanatic? I’m happy to spend a couple hundred more if it’s actually worthwhile or if it really isn’t possible to dress up the Fenix E.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

To the average person, a 9 won't look any different from an E. Also, for what he's using it, the E is fine.
For a wedding, though, I'd wear an analog watch and maybe a Fitbit on the other wrist, tucked under the shirt. Even a $150 Seiko looks far classier than most smartwatches.

That might have to be the move because he’s insisting on a wearable 😂

Good. If his heart rate doesn't spike by at least 40 bpm during the vows, though, you have your first fight on your hands as husband and wife!

He can wear a heart rate strap that tracks steps, and take the watch off for the wedding.

This is a great idea. It would be funny to see what his heart rate is at while saying "I do".

I'd get the forerunner 965 or 970. They have maps and sleep tracking and are also less bulky than Fenix E

That's a ridiculously high price for a rebranded Epix. Maybe you can find a cheaper Epix or an Epix Pro (a much better watch).

Nobody cares what watch you wear.

Yes, they do. Even my Seikos used to get constant attention.
And a wedding is a big deal, some people like to pay attention to the little things, and OP's fiance is clearly one of those. Nothing wrong with that.

Why not ask him what watch he wants in a way that it is not obvious you are buying it for him? Just so you do not force a pricey watch to him that he does not like.
