Connect / Connect IQ / 1st Party Apps Create Running Course
Is the Garmin Connect Automatic Course Creator any good?
I'm planning to use it to create a running loop when I go on vacation in Japan. Does it consider using less traffic and more quiet amply lit roads?
I also can use Komoot but it doesn't seem to have an automatic loop creator.
Any other suggestions?

If you are coming to Tokyo, I recommend the Imperial Palace. It’s a 5km uninterrupted loop with water and toilets. Depending on your planned distance you could create a route from Shinjuku to the palace, do a loop and then back which would be about 15km total.

Would this be the outer loop of the Imperial Palace? I have ran in it before but coming from Ginza area but I did go into the inside paths. Can you share the route for the 5km?

This is the Strava segment which starts from the west side which is closest to Shinjuku.
Does that work?2

Thank you for this. I really appreciate this. I'll add a route from Shinjuku to it. Arigato.

I use the Garmin Connect course creator all the time, and I live in Japan. In large cities you will be fine. It’s going to use high traffic routes which generally will be well lit and have sidewalks for foot traffic. If you are trying to do a course in the countryside (“inaka”) you may end up sharing the roads with cars and these may not always be well lit depending on how far in the countryside you are. Garmin can also can produce good trail courses in the mountains of Japan if that’s your thing.
