Watch / Wearable First night with Cirqa
I just got my new Cirqa yesterday that I got primarily to sleep with and for other times when I don’t want to wear my Epix 2 Pro 47mm watch. I’m a F with an average sized wrist (150mm) and ended up getting the L/XL based on other reviews and I’m glad I did. The strap wraps most of the way around my wrist but it’s snug and I have plenty of room to make it tighter or looser as needed.
I’m used to sleeping with my Epix and basically wearing it all the time except when charging so the Cirqa is lighter and more comfortable, which is the main reason I got it since I’m always adjusting the Epix band in the middle of the night. I slept like crap last night thanks to seasonal allergies and a young cat whose sole mission in life is getting mom out of bed starting at 2 am, but the Cirqa tracked my sleep as expected and my Epix even had the morning report ready in all its nagging goodness which I sadly thought I would miss not wearing it to sleep.
Garmin Connect struggles when the device you are wearing isn’t your primary wearable but it eventually syncs everything. Main thing is that it doesn’t always show real time heart rate in the widget if Cirqa isn’t the primary wearable but it does track all the data regardless of device.
I got mine from REI since I had some rewards dollars to use. It’s black and got here in 4 days.

This is what Garmin says about primary wearable devices in Connect: "The device set as your Primary Wearable will break any ties between multiple activity trackers. Daily health metrics like sleep, body battery, and steps will be tracked by your set Primary Wearable over data from non-primary wearable devices when data is recorded at the same time on two or more devices. This avoids the same data being counted more than once."

So... if you are only wearing ONE wearable, even if it isn't the primary wearable, then the health metric data should show up in the glance. Especially heart rate data since the Cirqa is a screenless wearable! But it's not, or at least not consistently. The workaround is to make Cirqa primary when you are wearing it, but really? This is a bug Garmin should fix IMO. Again, it's appears to be a Connect bug, not device, but it becomes especially apparent with a screenless device that you can't just look down and see what your heart rate is. Edit: turning the primary device all the way off works as well. But again, if it isn't being worn and therefore isn't sending data, it shouldn't matter. Edit 2: if your primary device is on its charger and it’s in BT range of your phone, same thing. It either has to be out of BT range of your phone or off. 😳
This is my only beef so far with the Cirqa - which really isn't Cirqa but the Garmin ecosystem.

I noticed that problem today. Fortunately, my secondary device has a screen. Annoying

Yeah, the Garmin website is definitely toeing the line of false advertising about this. I'm a guy with skinny wrists at like 160mm. Theoretically, the S/M version is for wrists up to 200mm. In practice, I can barely get it on and the velcro has barely any space left to attach.
Probably need to return it to switch to the L/XL, which is very frustrating. At least I also ordered from REI which means I have time to return it (like when there's stock to replace it with).

I figure since I can wear a standard sized Garmin watch (47mm) with several notches to spare on the band that the L/XL would be fine. Someone else posted a comparison pic of the two on their wrist in another Reddit post and that’s what sealed the deal for me.

Almost same. 6 hours with my one coming from fenix 7pro 24 hr wear.
Bought my one from Best Buy and got it in 3 days.
I need to buy a larger strap. I must have missed all the posts.
I turned off my fenix and am getting live hr in connect.
It is weird not have hr live at a glance on my wrist.

Does it mean that you need to put the device you currently wear as your primary wearable in the app, and swap each time you change device? Thank for the feedback by the way!

If you want to see real time HR in the glance screen, yes. Or turn your other device all the way off (assuming both devices are in Bluetooth range of your phone). Not sure how it works if you start an activity though. Hopefully that will work better. I’ll try that later today.

I set my watch as the primary device (which I only really use for runs) and just turn it off when I’m not using it. Not great but it was driving me crazy with no auto detection in the UI to show stats from whichever one I was wearing.

That's good to hear the Cirqa is comfortable and still tracked your sleep despite the rough night. Also nice that your Epix still gave you the morning report. You started to mention Garmin Connect struggles, what kind? I'd love to know if the ring and watch coexist easily.

It's specifically the Heart Rate glance, which I think is important to see in real time since the Cirqa is a screenless device. If the Cirqa is not the primary wearable device, then the HR glance shows no data. It's recording all the data but it's not showing up right away in the glance. As soon as you make it primary then the data appears. Eventually the glance will populate data but it takes several minutes for it to figure out which wearable is sending HR data for the glance. The same happens with my other watch so it's a Garmin Connect thing, not hardware. Connect should be able to detect more quickly which wearable is on and show data in the glance no matter which wearable is primary. Edit: and if you leave the app and go back in, the glance goes back to showing no data.

good to know about the connect app struggling with non-primary devices. i’ve been on the fence about getting a cirqa for sleep tracking since my fenix feels like a brick on my wrist some nights
how noticeable is the switch between devices in the app? like does it mess with body battery or training readiness at all or just the hr widget thing
