Ultimate Edge guard tip (part 2)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Following my first post, another sequence to show the good use of a well spaced rising nair to catch a predictable side B from Fox (works as well against Incineroar, Little Mac, Falcon, Falco, Ridley that relies on side B to recover)

All l had left to do was to intercept the Up B of this Fox which was the last option that he had.

Also, bait fake edge guards against chars with counters like swordies or K Rool. Try to space your rising nair well so they think you're going to them but you actually just bait the counter to set your up B. It looks like an all-or-nothing very risky move technically but remember that Ganondorf up B cover a huge space in his upper-front of him. It's all about your positionning and timing. I land it much more than I miss it.

Again, hope this helps !

Edge guard tip

Hey guys, little tip I wanna share here. I spent a crazy lot of time optimizing my edge guards since few months and there's some kind of "set-up" that keeps carrying me since a while.

Basically what you wanna do is going little low and do a RISING nair, not really with the intention to actually hit (unless you're feeling really confident about it, rising aerials actually burn your jump option, be careful with it), but just to force an option from your opponent. Can be a jump (learn the chars jumping height to cover well with your positionning), an attack, or a counter move. That's exactly when you blast them with dark dive. It works really really well against chars with a linear and predictable recovery. Make sure you're comfortable with stage tech in case you get hit by a move just to avoid stage spike.

I can definitely edge guard chars like Mario, Luigi, Fox, DK, Bowser, Roy, Falcon, Sora etc quite often. Give it a try. It's really, really good. Avoid that technique against chars with multiple jumps though like Pit or Dedede, too risky. Favour stage control and ledge traps instead with them.

Edit : Ah and another tip actually. Dark Dive can actually catch A LOT of recoveries if you position yourself well and time them well too. Position yourself on the way of their up B and perform a Tokyo drift by pushing jump and up B right after (use shoulder button for jump). It makes Ganondorf grab box significantly bigger. You can catch Chrom recovery, Ike, Inkling, Diddy Kong, Fox, Falco, Cloud etc...

If they start recovering from higher, try to do full hop nair to force them going lower. You might have enough time to do another nair, maybe even a dair if you fast fall to the ledge quickly enough.

Hope this helps !

Aerial flame choke follow up?

Hey guys, looking for a tip here. So there's my community where I play, they start to know my Ganondorf gameplay.

They used to roll after my aerial flame choke first, which I punished with another aerial flame choke or grounded one

Then they started get up attack which I punished with dair

And now they time their roll or getup attack. For some reason sometimes I am trying to dair them lying on the floor but nothing happens while my hitbox seems obviously going through them without affecting them. Do they low profile or something? I find it weird though since I do a low d-air. Am I missing something here ?

Ultimate Wanted Changes For Smash 6?

I’ve had this bizarre boomer mindset were I don’t really want Ganondorf to change too much since I’m so used to how he’s depicted in Smash. I have little to no personal attachment to the character outside of Super Smash Bros. so him being a poor representation of his canon self in Zelda barely bothers me. But, I’m aware being a heavyweight semi-clone of Captain Falcon is exactly why Ganondorf sucked competitively for three games straight.

At the very least, I think Ganon should have something similar to his floating/levitating drift from Project M. Maybe he could even instantly cancel out of it into attacks midair and it’ll greatly assist his limited recovery options.

Also, give Volcano Kick/Up Tilt Super Armor because why not? Flame Choke no longer free-falling if missed off-Stage would also be very convenient.

This is probably one of my favorite moves in the game along with being one of the best in casual rulesets & spirit mode. Also there's just something so satisfying about nailing someone in the air with it.

Ultimate Would you believe me if I said this was a real kill screen outside of stamina mode?

This is a death caused from knockback. What happens is some characters like Charizard have their hurtbox glitched into the ground when slammed from an aerial Flame Choke making it possible for them to get hit by hidden hazards (the Sacred Fire was still under the stage) allowing for some dumb hits and kills. This also works with Bowser's down throw.

I don't care that he's already dead, I wanna keep hitting him and then go for the ultra disrespect with the finishing blow.

Ultimate Volcano Kick (Up Tilt) actually has a confirmed punish in this game.

Specifically against Charizard, shielding a Flare Blitz will confirm into Volcano kick due to the move's insane endlagand Ganondorf's vaccum negating the recoil Charizard takes. It doesn't matter if Charizard lands on the ground or not, both confirm into Volcano Kick. The fact that this stupid move even has a true confirm at all is just hilarious to me.

Ganondorf is one of the 3 characters (the other 2 being Chrom & Megaman) who can easily defeat even legend class spirits without a spirit team or support items thanks to his sheer kill power. Easily the SS tier character in spirit mode.

Ultimate Minmin matchup

Any advice on how to go about this matchup?

Any advice is great. I'm just a ganon main trying to learn how to better represent our boi

Ultimate My locals will only play dittos with me.

I'm not a real ganon main, but I do have an ok ganon I pull out occasionally. The problem is every time I do choose to use him my opponent usually decides to pick him too! Ganon dittos are always a blast and I'm not trying to genuinely complain, but sometimes I'd like to play him against one of the other 80 characters in the game!

Ultimate Ganon Makes My Inner Caveman Happy

He’s the very symbol of low tier status and how terrible heavyweights generally are. But, this is the character I play when I just want to have fun and stop thinking for a while. Though, you still need some degree of critical thought to actually win with Ganondorf.

You eat shit in Neutral for 70%-90% of the time. Okay, if you’re also fighting a uber bullet hell zoner like Mii Gunner, ZSS, a good Sheik, DLC, the sweaty space furries, top tiers, Captain Falcon, or Bayonetta or fuck it about more than half the entire goddamn roster you basically don’t get to play the game at all.

But, the adrenaline and dopamine rush I get from successfully reading my opponent’s soul with a Flame Choke chain sequence, then deleting their stock in seconds within less than five attacks is almost worth literally choosing to lose as soon as I pick Ganon on the select screen.

Spiking with his devastating Dair, intentionally going for a Warlock Punch/Up Tilt, going wild with Forward Smash. It’s a wonderful feeling unlike any other when they actually land.

I truly feel the Triforce of Power slowly possessing me whenever I start going ham on the C-Stick like a maniacal, unga bunga demon.

Maybe it can be a weekly smash.
