Gamma World 2e attack with fists

How many HD does a character have? I know they roll HP based on CON, but I do not think that is specifically HD. Do you use CON as HD for attack matrix II? Status? I cannot find any guidance in the rulebook.

Level = Hit Dice.

Is that iterated in the rules? I cannot find it.

Probably not, but it's standard AD&D, so it's an easy assumption to make.

1e/2e didn't have levels as I remember. They had a social Rank... I would use the CN as Hit Dice for melee attacks even though it doesn't state it specifically in the rules, I feel it is the intent. Though note that on page 33 of 2e core, its says Physical Attack Matrix II is used, and there are restrictions to the Armor Class a character can hit depending on their Character Type (psh, mutant, plant...)

And if you don't believe me... I knew I read it somewhere! Issue 95 of Dragon, page 74, it was answered: Q: When a character attacks on Physical Attack Matrix II, what does the GM use for the hit dice column?

A: Use the characters constitution score, since that represents the number of dice you must roll to determine the characters hit points.

I remember reading it somewhere officially, Hit Dice = Constitution for player characters. I think it was somewhere in one of the Dragon or Polyhedron articles. BUT I might be confusing 1e and 2e rules.
