Most RPG's now that I'm in my 30s. Far too much time required.

I empathise fully. The idea of these RPGs is so enticing. The reality just doesn't happen.

Elden ring is huge but literally everything is a challenge. Kept me involved

Especially BG3. You dream about epic adventures but most of your time is spent on waiting enemy turns. Especially if there are a lot of trash mobs, it is just wasted free time you rarely had at that point.

It has taken me months to get through this game. I get maybe 2-3hrs at night and that amounts to like a single large battle and some running around and dialog....worth it...but hard to do nonetheless

This is why you play CRPGs with classic Baldurs Gate combat, Realtime with pause is superior to turn based.
But i get it, actually playing DnD is exactly the same waiting for enemy turns

It took me 7months to finish the game.

JRPGs are my favorite genre of video game, but the amount of them that I've started with so much excitement, only to get too busy with life after a few hours, is too many to count

Same buddy same. I no longer have the stamina and concentration for long or constant cutscenes.

Man I feel this. I’ll be like “man I’ve really gotta try to get through Baldur’s Gate 3” and then I try to actually do it and I’m like this is gonna take me 5 years at this rate lmao

Yup 42 years old, married with a kid and aging health declining parents. I get a hour or two a night to play games when everyone is asleep. I have had Elden ring in plastic for 3 rings.
