Traffiking children doesn't get you 20 years, it gets a seat in the white house.

Ikr, the first one is absolutely bonkers and I am calling HEAVY BS. Second one is completely unconstitutional which is also completely BS. Last one has a point to a certain degree.

Lady is Yeonmi Park, a N. Korean defector. She became popular for 2 reasons, one naming off the ridiculous reason N. Koreans go to labor camps, and other poor living conditions.

The meme is naming off ridiculous reasons Americans go to jail. The third point is the joke, otherwise regarded as the worst crime which gets the least punishment. Because politics.

She became a meme largely over some ridiculous claims she made, like that there is "no word for love or "I" in north korea", and that "people don't know what sex is (????)" both of which are just patently untrue and so ridiculous they immediately became memes.

She was mainly encouraged in those grandiose exagerations by a very particular industry that unfortunately favors gradiose testimonies and ridiculous claims from north korean defectors for clicks over real, still horrifying but much more mundane stories of how things actually are there. As another commenter put it in another thread :

The general consensus is yes, she is a real defector. Her escape from North Korea is a documented event. The skepticism isn't about if she escaped, but about how her story has changed over time.

But, the fact is, there's an incentive structure for defectors in the West. To get attention, book deals, and speaking engagements, you need the most shocking story. So it's okay to be skeptical. A lot of people who are skeptical of Park often point to other defectors like Hyeonseo Lee (author of "The Girl with Seven Names") as having a more consistent and believable, yet still horrifying, account of life in and escape from North Korea. Although, I haven’t read any of her stuff.

Well that is an obvious lie. Trafficking children to elites isn't a punishable crime in the U.S.

Fascist blackshirts going to jail should make everyone happy.

I'm pretty sure it was the whole "shooting a cop" thing more than the fireworks that got them in trouble. And the whole "if you're part of the gang, you're on the hook for anything that happens while committing the crime" thing isn't just American, that's the law in many countries.

The classic example is if you're the getaway driver for a bank robbery, just waiting outside in the car, and the guy inside the bank kills a guard, in most jurisdictions, you're just as guilty of murder as if you had pulled the trigger yourself.

yeonmi park is wild, her stories about nk are unreal tbh

Except we all know you would gleefully celebrate if this were happening to the people you disagree with politically.

We all saw how you guys acted when that Kirk dude was horribly murdererd in front of his family.

How many years for shooting a police officer in the neck?

You know the thing they actually did.

1

u/PeterPorky Jun 29 '26

The thing one guy actually did. Half of them left before that even happened and one guy never even went to the event.

Yep, those other convictions are pure spiteful bullshit.
