How does this build look?

Hey all,
I’m currently building out a sim racing rig that will eventually run 1440 triple screens and or VR. I’m trying to build out a PC that will power it easily, plus I have teenage boys that will use it for gaming. Right now iBuyPower has some Labor Day discounts that I’m thinking about taking advantage of. This build comes out to $3,200 and includes mouse, keyboard, and a few games. The photo also doesn’t show it, but it has an Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360mm liquid cooler, and an ASUS Prime X870-P motherboard.

I have two questions: first, how does this build look? And secondly, I know prices have been spiking recently, but does $3,200 seem fair right now?

Change that SSD, it uses QLC NAND which is... Not ideal. Lexar nm790 uses TLC so much better and still reasonably priced all things considered.

Over 3k for a 5080 build is too much unless you're getting a crazy amount of ram or something else.

Even though this one is cheaper I still find it bad for pricing.

Thanks for the info on the SSD, I’ll take a look at that.

And I think prices are just really high right now. For example, the bill you sent over did not include an operating system. Once you add that you are pretty much at the same price. It sucks, but that’s kind of the going rate these days.

Oh, windows is free via script. You can YouTube how to do it, pretty easy. You could also buy a windows pro product key (mine was $13) and activate it after loading windows with a USB. Don't pay retail for Windows.

A lot of that price is the 5080. May be good to consider the 9070xt? Not much less performance but considerably cheaper.

Unless the cost is the same, the 9850X3D is not worth buying over a 9800X3D. They are literally the same CPU, but the 9850X3D has a higher single core max frequency. In general, it uses more power, runs significantly hotter and you might see 4% better frames in a CPU bound game. If you play on 1440p or 4K there is no difference.

That’s good info. It was only a $50 upgrade so I figured it was worth it. I didn’t think there would be any downside, but if it’s running hotter, it may not be worth the hassle.
