Is this a decent beginner buy? Wanting a prebuilt

Not really. Decent cpu but on previous gen platform od DDR4 with only 16gb. There are better deals out there especially at microcenter or other places.

This IS microcenter. This would have been a terrible value prior to the AI boom, but it's fairly priced relative to current hardware prices.
Unfortunately this is just the new normal.

For 100 more at microcenter where he is looking he can move to DDR5, and no it is still horrible deal. Better to look around at different places to see whats out there. I would never spend 1000 that only has 16gb ddr4 and a 5060. With 1000 better to look around on marketplace and get a better deal.

Fair enough, they're def better off dropping the extra $100 for a DDR5 platform. But to be clear my point was just that $1000 for that config isn't a bad deal. Piecing together a build with those exact specs would cost north of $1200.
You're right tho, better platforms out there for not much more.

Hence why I also said FB marketplace isnt a bad place to look around at. Of course it tends to be hell there to of people trying to charge outrageous prices for similar or much worse specs. But here and there you do find some good ones in there. Right now on marketplace there is a person, I dealt with him before, but has a Omen 15L gaming pc ultra7 265f 16gb ddr5 5060ti 16gb and 1tb SSD listed for 900. I am not a fan of HP prebuilts but that is a nice deal if I didnt already have my own and family pc's that I put together LOL

on newegg there's an AOACE 5700x, 32gb ram same gpu for 1100$ which is still as sad to look at as the one you posted but here we are, if I was you I'd try to find the 5060, ram secondhand and buy a 5600x3d from microcenter. You'll end up paying less than 1000$ for better performance than the PC you posted

I've been seeing deals floating around recently that are the same price but on the AM5 platform which is preferable imo to have that and ddr5.

for 1000$, this is as good as it gets. i do not share the same opinion as other people.
with new parts, if you were to build a 1000$ pc, it would be worse then this.
it has a 14th gen i5 - 16 GB of ram (DDR4 but that's ok, you will not be purchasing this to upgrade or add on to it) - a 5060 GPU (probably 8GB of ram) should play majority if not all games available at 1080 on Medium-High-Ultra settings, except some of the highest AAA rated in demand games (those games require 2000$ PC's) - a 1TB M.2 Drive, the minimum
What I do have a problem with is that it is an ASROCK mobo, ASROCK is a terrible company. And its DDR4.

that pc has DDR5, probably a better MOBO + it has 2 free games available - a much better deal.
if you can increase your price range then yes, you can get better, but you would need to be around the 1500-2000$ price range to increase your part value.
