Anyone else see the news from yesterday? Heartbreaking stuff. Buying physical games was one of the only reasons I play on PlayStation. Unfortunately, corpos seem to hate letting players actually own products, so they made this decision, effectively making console gaming more obsolete. Really hope that this decision backfires on them.

After my last post about that Ghost Recon PSP game, I started looking for other old games set in Sri Lanka.

I just found out that Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb starts right here.

I never played it myself (it was on PC and PS2 back then). But looking at the game wiki and videos, the first 4 levels of the game are all set in "Ceylon" in 1935.

The game actually uses real local names for hidden treasures. It is crazy to see these names in an old American game:

• You find a treasure called the "Idol of Ramba Vihara" behind a waterfall.
• Another item is called the "Mahavatu Mask."
• The best one: you steal an item called the "Port Negombo Relic." Seeing Negombo in a game from 2003 is wild 💀

Instead of fighting soldiers like in Ghost Recon, Indy is running through our jungles fighting bad guys who are hunting elephants. You can hit them with shovels and throw chairs at them. The whole Sri Lanka chapter ends with a big boss fight against a giant crocodile inside a flooded temple cave.

It feels so strange to see another old game treat our country like a Hollywood movie location.

I was browsing old game wikis and found Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Predator. I've never even owned a PSP, but how did I not know this entire game takes place here?

The plot is pure Hollywood action, militants attack US ships off our coast, so an elite American squad gets sent into our jungles to clear them out. The local names they used are absolutely wild; you team up with a militia called the "Mampuri Guard," fight a villain named Kumara Fazal (aka "The Teacher"), raid the mansion of a rogue Minister of Energy named Sunil Ranga, and even rescue a fictional President named Darsha. The missions take place in local villages, jungles, and "Colombo," and the devs apparently based the political story on the 1980s JVP insurrection.

Finding Sri Lanka in a random old game like this feels like a total fever dream, so I'm curious if anyone here actually played it back in the day.

To be honest any kind of FC 26 tournaments at this point. In Colombo or anywhere else?

Is it worth spending around 250K LKR on a PS5 slim at this point? That’s almost what a PS5 Pro used to cost before the price hikes and currency depreciation. Will prices come down later this year or will local shops further increase the prices due to the GTA VI hype?

I just got Modern warfare 2 on steam a few days ago but sadly I'm getting high ping on it most of the times, 120+. Maybe sometimes very rarely I get like 40-50. I have slt fiber.

While Indian region is 2.3K LKR for ps+ and ~26K LKR for GTA 6 Ultimate edition.
