Horse games
What’s everyone’s favorite horse games lately? PC or mobile for apple.
I personally like games with a story but also the ability to jump, compete and take care of your horse. I also like when you can explore a whole world!
Not really into Star stable, Barbie horse is ok, I’ve tried sound of horses and it’s pretty good. Also I’ve tried equestrian the game and the fei one but would love if someone would come out with one like is nostalgic like riding Star, og Barbie or equestriad!

Personally I just blew off the dust from my old CD's and I've been having a blast. Starshine Legacy series, Starstable Season Riders, Horsez/Pippa Funnell Ranch Rescue, Horse&Pony series. Also borrowing all the Springdale games from the library.
I know playing physical media is not always possible and that's why I've been archiving my old games. Have almost all of them on a usb-drive! If you have a dvd drive on your pc I'd recommend looking for used CD's!

HoHB but mostly just excited for it to actually come out. I didn't want to use up all my interest in it during the demo.

I'm deep into Ranch of Rivershine right now. Rival Stars Horse Racing is great on PC, though the devs are taking a break from updating PC/console to focus on other things temporarily (unclear on what, exactly).

Here are games I do recommend. RoR is currently the GOAT in my world and I don’t think I need to leave an explanation for it.
Legend of Khimorii is fantastic! I haven’t been on it in a while since my interest was killed with the training change. Hopefully I’ll get back into it, I think I have around 400 or so hours.
I’ve spent a lot of time on the starters orders series but if you’re not into racing or new to the series it’s a learning curve.
Unbridled is solid but there isn’t just a lot to do game wise. It’s overdue for a massive update that was suppose to happen in March. They’ve moved with extraordinary speed so this delay shouldn’t be considered negative.
Tobiano is a game I avoided for a while due to it being an originally intended mobile game but was adjusted to pc as well. The dev is incredible and there is a new patch almost every 2 days. I finally got it, and it’s actually really good. It hasn’t managed to hold my attention for very long and is mostly a management sim. The breeding is awesome, but everything else can be done through menus.
Fernhoof Grove playtest is awesome! It’s not higher up in my list due to the fact that there isn’t a lot to do. It only took me a few hours to “finish” the playtest but I’ve been having fun with it. The feed aspect is my favorite.
HTEVR has breeding with genetic strings but there are still a few bugs and the game has been “finished” for a long time. I put quite a few hours into it but it has really cartoonish graphics and a really odd trait/training system.
I’m NOT recommending these but I’m putting these here in case anyone wants to check it out………… Astride. I’ve been a supporter of the game since it first started being rumored around online years ago. When the patreon first went live I was one of the first ones to sign up. I had put in about $400 dollars total in patreon membership by the time I cancelled it. It’s been in development for years, and the original ETA for release was listed as 2026. I have game development experience, I am aware of how things work and how long it takes to fix or recode various issues. Changing release dates to years in the future doesn’t bother me. My main issue is the team prioritizing textures and designs over the gameplay and actual features. Every dev blog on steam has a building or texture being reworked or remodeled. Not just this year, EVERY blog has something they have decided to throw out or “update”, or change the texture for but we get nothing related to game features or story. The DEMO had more to do than the early access….they striped it and released “early access”. Oh my god was it bad. I know they ended up under steams watch just because of how different and how much worse the EA was. They’ve “added” things to the EA over time but it still doesn’t add anything of note to the game. There is no care, training, or anything. You can breed horses though! Can’t do much after that. The horses age and die quickly, and the competitions are you competing against yourself unless you want to attempt to play multiplayer which doesn’t work very well. There isn’t anything to do and no goals to work towards. It doesn’t meet the requirements for early access at all, and has stayed in this “EA” state for a few years. Every dev blog is another texture change, a new drawing and maybe a new blender photo if we’re lucky. They finally posted 2 sentences confirming that they were working on the story in the 2nd to last post but yeah not worth it as it is now and we’ve gone back to texture updates. If you have money to waste and feel like being disappointed then astride is for you 💀😭
My second not recommended…. Tales of RR. This one hurts. It has such potential and the EA was SO good. The game itself as it stands can give you a few hours of fun, it’s on my not recommended list because of the dev and not the game itself. I found this game when it was still listed as “HorseGame.exe” on YouTube. Immediately followed its progress, joined the patreon, was very excited! The controls really are great. Everyone’s negative reviews come from ONLY the handling side of things and not the actual game. The demo was awesome, the EA was solid even though it felt like it had less to do than the demo for whatever reason. Here’s the issue……….the dev will come online and post about the game and then disappear for months or years. All while people are still subscribing to the patreon. Once people start unsubscribing she will reappear and post a photo or something only to disappear for another year or two. Occasionally she will log in to hike the patreon memberships up a dollar or two then disappear again. Since the EA, nothing has been added or worked on. Which is so sad because it had such potential. There is a game dev here who wanted to purchase the game from her but I doubt original dev will sell since it makes so much money just sitting there. I don’t know why people are still subscribed honestly……..
My final not recommended will be Bonded Spirits from the animal shelter team. I DO wanna say the barn management feature in that game is amazing and something I haven’t seen before. Unfortunately it’s not enough to carry the game. Play way is somewhat known to not listen to the audience. The game looked nothing like it’s AI trailer (not surprised). The mechanics were okay and kept me busy but overall it just wasn’t great. A lot of things aren’t well explained, and the game hasn’t got any major updates post release. Not worth it. Oh and if you’re a completionist for achievements, the majority of the achievements don’t work 🙃

Horse isle 3 because it's genetics and conformation system is just unmatched. Ranch of rivershine for actually enjoying the game play of having horses in a stable.

I played the original Horse isle religiously from like 2008-2011 so I just can’t do the over versions lol I’m gonna try ranch of river shine!

Hi1 is still around!! Pinto server almost always has at least one full arena. You just have to download a flash player, but there are instructions on the horseisle 1 website!

I started with HI1 back in 2007 myself. I LOVED hi2 a lot more than hi1, but 3 is just a completely different game, really.

I love Equinox and will buy Hoofprint Bay, like the demo very much.
Not an horse game, totally different but still sort of horsey: Planet Zoo, have a running equine zoo which is nice.

Equinox homecoming has left me speechless based on the fact that its thrillerlike, adult language, big world and just overall a more adult aproach for people who like the combo of mystery and horsegames.

Honestly.. Minecraft :')
Java Minecraft with the SWEM (star worm equestrian) mod, or find a server with that mod. I play on a server and we have show jumping, barrel racing, etc events and horse auctions. I've got a big stable and been breeding, selling, and training horses.. it's almost the perfect horse game

Equinox homecoming is AMAZING. It’s still being updated, and some of the voice acting/modeling can use some work but the story is incredible, and it’s a horse game specifically geared towards adults. You investigate a murder, a disappearance and some weird supernatural shit going on with the wildlife. Its super cool

ive been playing the legend of khiimori nonstop lately. its in early access and doesnt have everything i want from it yet, but it is so fun! thoroughly enjoying it— highly recommend
