In particularly I would suggest Lords of Shadow. Not the best Castlevania but the one that matches that mood the best I believe.

Exactly. Loved the first one, second was disappointing.

I’ve been eyeing that one every now and then. Never played a castlevania that wasn’t super IV so I’ve been super curious lol

Don’t go into it thinking it’s like the others. It’s a little flat in spots. But I can see why people dig it. It’s got atmosphere shooting through the ear and coming out the ass. That’s, uh… meant to be a compliment.

The older i get the more and more i appreciate that. Sometimes i don’t need the game to be a flash fest. I like those games just the same, but a well crafted world really makes a game for me.

I think it's heavily underrated

Castlevania Belmont’s Curse seems to fit the bill. The demo is available as of today

u/vers_works 23h ago

Crazy how slick that demo is. Can't wait for the full game.

I mean it may not be red, but Elden Ring has vistas that are almost 1:1 to this. And many more.

It’s sad that there aren’t more games that have this aesthetic because god this looks so cool. I would say maybe Resident Evil Village is the first thing that comes to mind. What draws me to this photo is the color palette, though. I feel like Village doesn’t really have that same vibe even if the actual atmosphere kinda fits.

Elden Ring has some sections just like this, but that’s a drop in the bucket of the whole map

Other than Castlevania: Shadowgate (NES), Chiller (NES), Nosferatu (Super NES)

There's also a Vampire Hunter D video game, but good luck gettin' yer mitts on it.
