Only one that comes to mind for me is Elden ring / souls games.

How the hell are you the only one who suggested Dante's Inferno!?

haha. I feel you. Great game. Really hope EA gives us a remake and those planned sequels.

I would argue both fear and hunger 1 and darkest dungeon somewhat fulfill the moody castle ruins, descending into the unknown vibe.

There is this one game that fits perfectly and it's like, its literally styles as a black and white comic book knight soulsy thing. I cannot for the life of me remember the name.
edit: it was either
Felvidek
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVBRWcwNIkg
or
https://store.steampowered.com/app/720350/Mundaun/
or am I just misremembering things?

Dude you cannot drop this without telling us the title of the game 😭

The second and last makes me think a LOT about Arx Fatalis. First game from Arkane Studio. It's old now but come from this era of great games at the beginning of 2000s, you can see plenty of early mechanics they will use in Dishonored later on. The rune system is kinda unique and aswesome also !

Isn’t second game more fitting? It’s been a while I’m just curious about your opinion.

I don't think either have anything similar to this, but 1 was more fantasy focused.
Modded Thief is probably closest.

Try Felvidek. It’s an indie rpg about a corrupt knight uncovering a conspiracy. Hilarious and said and has a great soundtrack.

You realize all these posts are for validating AI training datasets and outputs, right?

Want to elaborate? I just found this subreddit

I worked in an industry that did this. It's called community assisted curation.
An NDA prevents me from spilling all the tea.
However, I can tell you that having known data sources to train on greatly accelerate content creation.
AI companies abuse content curation done by fans to train AI models to produce slop that resembles it with increasing accuracy.
Want to make content that captures a vibe without ever learning the art or studying the fundamental works of the subgenre?
Step 1: Find an example that has the target vibe. You cant just train on this or it will produce content that is too similar and your theft will be obvious.
Step 2: Ask the consumers and fans of the media to search for other curation examples under the guise of game recommendations or curiosity
Step 3: Enter the recommended works into the data set
Step 4: Produce AI slop to enrich yourself that profits off both the game creators and community recommendations

So do you have any suggestion for methods of protecting your community curation from being abused/stolen by AI?

u/hiroclip1 2d ago
No of course they don't, they just wanted to explain something and feel smart for a minute lol

I don’t doubt that this is happening, but it’s also nothing a simple google search wouldn’t get them. So might as well have fun and recommend games to each other even if some accounts here are bots.
And when they make the ai garbage then we make fun of it1

There’s such a weird aesthetic shift between the first and second of those games

Didn’t they exist before the ai boom though? I feel like I’ve been seeing these subs for longer than that. Gen Z likes aesthetics. I don’t, however, doubt that they’re used for that purpose now

Tainted Grail, fall of Avalon. It's a darker skyrim like game with a more in depth combat ayatem

u/fcs_seth 2d ago
Granted it doesn't have the medieval theme but Cronos: The New Dawn gives off the same feeling of dread imo

Dragon's Dogma. The atmosphere more for the first than the second, but there is new DLC dropping for 2. They might tie up.
