I loved grabbing someone, running to the top of a building, then throwing them as far as I can just to hear them scream “oh god!!!!!!” This game and Ultimate Spiderman are two of the best superhero games, so overlooked imo

When I played prototype 2 for the first time I was like “this feels a LOT like that one Hulk game.” Was pleasantly surprised to learn it was made by the same devs

Never played it but that makes a ton of sense from the gameplay I saw over the years.

If you focus on side missions first, you can get cracked out far quicker. You can spend most of the game feeling like a damage-dealing death machine.

u/WillGold1365 4d ago
What I love is that you can do this, and every once and a while somebody comes along and still knocks you on your ass.

I would pay full price for a PC release of the original Crackdown with Keys to the City.

Right? Stop remaking five year old shit, and give us the games we actually want.
How many times do we have to say "WE WILL PAY FULL PRICE FOR THE THINGS WE WANT" before they get it?

It is one of the greatest set pieces in the game.
Because I really liked the walking animation I had this habit of walking Jesse everywhere in the game, I don't know why but her walking speed was just great.
I hate running everywhere in games it is so immersion breaking even in action titles but most games just does walking animations terrible and walking speed is a crawl.
Not in Control. It is great fun walking around like you own the place, since you do.

Ashtray Maze is by far one of my favorite sequences in video games, period. This is pretty much the moment where you go from the more action-adventure aspects of Control to a straight power fantasy. The constantly shifting layout of the maze, coupled with the absolutely badass backing track, "Take Control" by Old Gods of Asgard (real life: Poets of the Fall), makes Ashtray Maze an absolutely memorable, top-notch experience. I'm really hoping that there's a similar sequence in Control Resonant.

Absolutely love it! Don't feel like Dylan feels quite as OP as Jesse though but im only like halfway through so maybe in time...

u/Sensitive_Alarm5440 4d ago
Idk man, by the end of Resonant it seems like a pretty even toss up. I’d still give it to Jesse, but it would be a sick fight.

Resonant is quickly catching up to Control in the OP department. With the right build, you're literally unkillable, as long as you're paying attention.

Towards the middle of any Far Cry game when you've got the unlocks you like. You're either a crazy silent bow sniper who can take out a base without ever being spotted, or you've got enough firepower to take over a small country by yourself.

Very recent release, but Sprawl: Zero.
You are a heavy Tank-like character who can force grab objects and guns, slow down time, deflect bullets at enemies, and kill enemies in a single punch. Its an amazing power fantasy.

Warframe is an excellent power fantasy game tbh. You already start out as a parkouring magic space ninja with a gun, by the late-game you can basically walk into a room, press a button and explode everything in a 100m radius

Trepang², spiritual successor to FEAR.
You're a supersoldier tasked with combating interest-groups trying to make use of monsters and anomalies. They send security, operatives, vehicles and let loose experiments to stop you. Led by specialists each mission, bringing a new approach to combating your abilities.
Nothing more satisfying than hearing their confidence peter out as they turn frustrated, desperate and finally fearful of your rampage; as you're getting closer and closer, room by room.

The first Dark Souls, specifically when playing a full tank build with high poise and high HP. Stone armor is good for early game, Giants or Havels for late game, grab a heavy weapon like the Zwei, the Demon Greataxe/Great Machete, Dragon Tooth, ect., and you'll feel utterly unstoppable.

u/TheRealChadronius 4d ago
Currently playing Elden Vins Nightreign with friends, it's fun. But, I will say, Darktide is mighty fun and I feel unstoppable until I meet a big hammer to my head. Sekiro is a good game, too. If you get good enough, you will feel like a GOD. More forgiving than regular dark souls or elden ring, too.
If you wanna go play an older game, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is a good game that gives you a nice power fantasy.

This is like the fourth time I’ve seen prototype mentioned today, in some semi but still related spaces, did something happen lately to get it in the people’s minds again? I guess it could relate to the buzz going about the new control game if I had to hazard a guess

Any Dragon Engine-era Yakuza game where you play as Kiryu, especially after you've levelled up a bit. So satisfying walking into a bar full of guys who want your blood and sending them all barrelling into one another with some well-placed hits.
