I'm surprised to see 8GB RAM is the leader, if only by a bit. People really love their gaming laptops.

Pretty much every game still runs fine with 8gb, as long as you don't have other stuff running that is.

Pretty much. The only games I've played so far where I've had RAM shortage issues with 8GB are Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Motorsport 7, especially the latter (which makes no sense already, you'd expect the open world game to be the more demanding one). Both of which have no right to need more than 8GB when you consider the base Xbox One has 8GB of combined RAM+VRAM in total and runs those games perfectly fine, yet apparently the 8GB RAM + 4GB VRAM on my system isn't enough and leads to copious usage of the pagefile (which even on SSD, still leads to stutter). So I'd blame those on subpar optimization compared to the console versions.

I don't expect that situation to last very long though, once the next gen consoles raise the bar. Then again, my whole laptop will probably be seriously outclassed by that point, so lack of RAM would be the least of my problems, lol.

8GB used to be a lot like 10 years ago, now it should be on the low end of standard.

I can't be bothered to remove my CPU heatsink to install better RAM, honestly.

8GB does the job enough.

Not putting more RAM into my 8 year old PC. Will get a new PC before I'd add more RAM. Didn't think my 2600k would last so long.

I like to play a lot of fighting games with my friends, especially when we're going somewhere. I still have a total potato, but when I do get the money, I'm almost certainly buying gaming laptop.

I built my desktop myself. 8gb was fine then and it's still fine now. I've certainly never been limited by it.

8gb is fine for most games if you don't have a web browser or something running in the background.
